Fall Enrollment Up
from Last Year
Fulltime enroll-
ment at McMurry has
climbed to a 28-year
high of 1069 students
up from 1042 last fall
University officials
announced recently. It
also marks six years in a
row of increased fulltime
enrollment.
The increase is
being fueled by the
largest freshmen enroll-
ment since the fall of
1988 officials said.
Total freshmen enroll-
ment is at 298 students
up from 262 last year
and previous high of 291
in the fall of 1988.
Total enrollment
stands at 1339 students
down somewhat from the
1368 registered last fall.

Freshmen aren't
the only new ones on cam-
pus this fall. There are a
number of new faculty
members here at
McMurry all of whom
have prior teaching expe-
rience and come from a
wide variety of fields.

Troy Goodsell is an
Assistant Professor of
Mathematics. He received
his undergraduate degree
at the University of Utah
and his Ph.D. at Brigham
Young University. Al-
though his specialty is to-
pology a subset of geom-
etry he will be teaching
algebra and calculus.
Jeffrey Kinlaw As-
sistant Professor of Phi-
losophy received his un-
dergraduate degree at
Wake Forest University
and his doctorate at the
University of Virginia. His
specialty is in nineteenth
century German philoso-
phy. He will be a co-organizer
of an upcoming

at Drew University in New
Jersey.
Dana Smith is the
Assistant Professor of Cur-
riculum and Instruction.
She received her under-
graduate degree at
Cameron University. She
recently finished her doc-
torate at Oklahoma State.
She was previously a pub-
lic school teacher.
Alicia Wyatt a fa-
miliar face on campus
has become an Assistant
Professor of Computer Sci-
ence. She helped write the
grant to get the new Dis-
tance Learning Center in
the library and is now the
director. Wyatt is also
currently teaching faculty
members how to create
their own web sites.

Robert Pace Asso-
ciate Professor of History
received his undergradu-
ate degree at Austin Col-
lege and his doctorate at
Texas Christian Univer-
sity. He comes to McM
from Longwood College in
Virginia. He is currently
working on a book about
college life in the south
before the Civil War and
is a board member of The
Grady McWhiney Re-
search Foundation located
on campus.
Stephen Eaves As-
sociate Professor of Music
received his undergradu-
ate degree at Union Uni-
versity. He finished his
doctorate this summer at
the University of South
