To you who have put off from time to time exhibiting the in-
terest you necessarily feel in your college paper, the Corral,
we would say your opportunity is almost gone. To promote
interest in the Corral as well as to benefit those students who are
willing to be benefitted in this, a prize of five dollars has been
offered to the student of Simmons College who will contribute
the best short story. The contest is open to both college and
academy students. The regulations are as follows: All papers
must be type-written; each story must contain not less than two
thousand and not more than three thousand words; and all
papers must be turned over to editors by May 1st.
Quite a number have already express a desire to enter the con-
test and the number will doubtless be increased when the contest
is generally known. We are expecting some good stories for our
commencement number.
BASEBALL.
The boys are doing some real good practice in baseball. Quite
a number are on the field each evening that is favorable. We are
glad to note the interest that the young ladies have in our
sports. They are always welcome to come out and watch the
practice games. The little pet names that are given to some of
the foremost players seem to put new vigor in their right arm.
The track boys are at work also. Mr. Allen our captain is
very enthusiastic and is a regular man on the field.
It is hoped that every one will continue his work in athletics
with redoubled energy and interest.
