Tho Democrats offer the people
free silver so do tbo pp Tho

is very marked The domooiats
demand that every dollar coined
shall be of equal bullion value
ivbilo the p p resolve that the
silver dollar shall contain less than
80 cents worth of silver Which
is tho better for the people When
the farmer sells a bushel of wheat
for a dollar why should ho not re
coivo a dollar anywhere in the
world Why should he take or
bo required to take that which
is really worth less than 80 cents

There is much talk about Wall

tison or Cleveland Is it not just
is reasonable to suppose that Wall
street and Europe could control
IWcaver And is it not just as
probable that the Third party rep
resentatives in Congress could be
bought upas to suppose that the
democratic or republican represen-
tatives could be
Some say that because we claim
to be democratic that we should
not publish Third Party news in
our paper We are democratic is
just the reason why we can toler-
ate the political views of others
and besides our religious beliefs
teach us to be kind and charitable
to our erring brothers
It has been slightly whispered
that Gov Hogg may call a special

the breaks in the commission law

The Directors of the Board of
Trade met in regular session on
Monday evening Sept 5th
Messrs Martin Bector Hagan
Harris and Seiders wero present
and Messrs Loverett and Lidstone
were absent
The committee on Bailroads
made a verbal report
The committee on Manufactures
reported that arrangements were
about completed for tbo erection
of a roller mill of fifty barrels ca-
pacity by a private concern there
fore it will not bo necessary to cir
cnlato a subscription for a stock
company
A circular letter from the state
Health department accompanied
by recommendations from the
County Health officers was read
and refered to tho committee on
Public Improvements
On Thursday the Board had a
called meeting at which tho com-
mittee on Public Improvements
made their report in regard to the
matter referred to them at Mon-
days meeting That committee
recommended that a special com
mittee be appointed to canvass the
town and have certain nuisances
abated and to raise a fund for tho
employment of a scavenger
The report and all papers accom-
panying it were referred to the
Board of Health
A resolution was adopted that
tho president appoint a special
committee of three to prepare a
petition to be presented to tho
Commissioners Court for an elec
tion to incorporate for school pur
poses Col G S Jones A E
Hill and John Kelly were appoint
ed
Tho Commission is indeed bad
ly disfigured at present But it is
thought by some of our ablest men
that the disfiguration is only tem-
porary and that the supreme court
will sustain tho commission
Somo of the largest grain deal-
ers in the state say that because
tho railroads have set aside tho
commission rates and restored
their old rates that the price of
wheat will be reduced about 5 cts
per bushel
It seems to be a pretty well es-
tablished fact that San Saba is to
have another roller mill Prelimi
nary arrangements are taking defi
nite shape and the News boasts that
within a short time we can publish
the facts and announce another mill
here As soon as it is known that
another mill will be erected many
farmers will greatly increase their
crops and many others who do not
raise wheat will engage in the bus-
iness Heretofore our local mer-
chants have been compelled to
send north an immense amount of
money for flour but another mill
will stop this Our money will be
kept at home Besides supplying
our home market San Saba will
command a large amount of west-
ern trade This enterprise is high-
ly commendable and worthy in ev
ery respect of the support of our
farmers as they will be more di-
rectly benefited than any other
class of people And besides all
this tho mill will bo a belp to our
town of which we may all be glad
Prospectors have been numer
ous and they aro most highly
pleased with tho outlook for San
Saba County With a railroad
here San Saba would bo Tho City
of the West Its situation geo-
graphically and topographically is
just about right Some day our
quiet little town will be a thriving
prosperous city But that day
