The directors of tho Waco Cotton
Palace hold a meeting last night of
great importance. Pending further
investigation of the title of tho
Waco Female college grounds the
question of bids was re-opened and
it was decided to advertise for fur-
ther bids whioh will bo considered
at a meeting of tho board of direc-
tors to bo held tomorrow night.

tho Second Baptist church yester-
day both at the services at 3 p m.

Southern army in tho Civil war are
holding a reunion hero today. Busi-
ness houses are decorated with
colors of tho confederacy and the

buildings and private residences.

Sudden Death of an Infant.
Bartlott April 23 This morning
Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dunn found
thoir infant child six months old
dead in 1ml. Tho child was per-
feotly well Sunday night and the
supposition ia that it smothered to
death during tho night. The par-
ents live eight miles east of Bart-
lett. The crops in this vioinity seem to
be in nice condition but rain is
ntedtd.

District Court Proceedings-Arrested

G. II. Carter who was arrested
at El Paso last month and brought
to Waco on a charge of swindling
pleaded guilty in Judge Scott's
court this morning to the charge
and his punishment was assessed at
five years in the penitentiary.
D. Twersky made affidavit before
Justice Gallaghor yesterday charg-
ing Leo Ware and Harry Edgsoum
with tho theft of a pookotbook con-
taining $9. Officers Ilardwick and
Curry found the remnant of the
pocketbook in a store on tho south
side of tho public square and later
arrested the two men for whom
they had warrants. Thoy aro in
jail.

Revival services begun at Mor-
street church last night. The at-
tendance W3S good and groat inter-
est manifested. Tho pastor is as-
sistod by Rov. W. A. Hamphill
who led the singing at tho Btato
league conference recently held in
Waxahatuhie. Mr. Ilamphill sings
the gospel with sweetness and
power. Services will be held at
9:30 a. m. and 7:15 p. m. during
thu entire week. The congregation
is worshipping in tho elegant new
ohurch on the oornor of Morrow and
North Eleventh streets.
