To the Physicians ot San Angelo and
West Texas. HowtoLulldn
Sanitarium.
West Texas has within tho
last few years achieved a wldd
reputation as a health resort for
people suffering with pulmona-
ry diseases. The altitude and
the dryness of the atmosphere
combine in making this part of
tho country u vary desirable
homo for a mujority of cases that
come west seeking climate as a
cure for lung diseases.
Some cases do better in a low-
er altitude some in a higher but
for the greater number of this
class of invalids the climatic
conditions of Western Texas
seem ideal.
Nature has bountifully sup
plied the country with good
water and pure dry air but the
groat crying need is yet to be
supplied by man's devising; and
that is suitable accommodations
far enough removed from a
populous town or city to insure
safety from infection whore
consumptives can have proper
food care lodging and atten-
tion at a price that docs not aid
the disease in killing tho patient-
Almost any point in tho Con-
cho country would be a suitable
place for a sanitarium for tho
treatment and cure of consumptives-
The greater part of the
medical profession recogni.e
good pure air outdoor living
wholeeome food and atteution to
diet and bathing as tho surest
means of eradicating tubercu
losis in cases that have not pro-
gressed beyond all hops of aid
before coming under treatment
The conditions for out-door
life are nowhere more favorable
than in West Texus where for
21 hours in the day and for more
than 300 of tho 30;") in tho year
at a safe guess one can live in
the open air if desiring so to do.
But someplace must be pro-
vided where these sufferers of
ten people of limited means yet
deserving of help and sympathy
can be cared for at a reasonable
price. A millionaire actuated
by the love of his fellow men
could do no nobler deed than to
establish outpf his abundance
such a place for such a cause.
No shaft of marble no statue of
bronse no bust in the Hall of
Fame would so perpetuate his
memory
It has more than once occurred
tg the writer of these lines that
if this subject could once be pre-
sented to Andrew Carnegie in
its true light he might be per-
suaded to put somo of his money
into it. The object is surely as
worthy as heart could wish. The
Son of Man while on earth
healed the sick and never once
turned a deaf ear to the impor-
tunities of human suffering.
Andrew Carnegie has shown
wonderful liberality in endow-
ing libraries which are to bene-
fit his fellows in an intellect-
ual way and it would bo cer-
tainly none the less praisewor-
thy to extend aid to suffering
humanity in tho way above in-
dicated. Is it not worth while to at-
tempt to interest this big heart-
ed Scotchman in this scheme?
If tho doctors in this part of the
country would combine their

advantages this country offors
