soaking rain.
San Angelo Tex Aug( 19.- A
heavy rain fell hero but eight and
the prospects indicate more soon.
Sherman Tex. Aug 19. A steady
rain of four hours' duration Jell here
to-day and reports indicate that the
rain has been general throughout the
county.
Wayne Tex. Aug 19. A light
rain fell here yesterday evening. The
prospect is good for more this morn-
ing. Baird. Tex. Aug 19. Our county
was visited this morning by a nice
shower of rain.
Wylie Tex. Aug 19. A fine rain I
fell bprp this afternoon. I
Sunset. Tex. Aug io. Another
good rain fell here to-day. 'I he cot-
ton crops of this section is decidedly
the best for several years.
Terrell Tex. Aug. iy. A spendid
rain fell in this section this evening
and from appearances it is supposed
there has been a pretty good rain
north and northeast of Terrell. Tne
ram was very heavy and was accom-
panied with a heavy wind.
Granbur; Tex.. Aug 19. A glo-
rious rain is now falling-all over Hood
county and insures an immense cot-

and killed by George Moon 20 years
of age. Jennie was returning to the

pocket and shot her. The ball enter-

Three Ticket 11 in the Field.
Texarkana Tex. Aug 18. Last
Saturday white Republicans of Milller
county met here and nominated a full
county ticket. The colored portion
of that party were out in the distribu-
tion and to-day held a convention of
their own and nominated a full ticket
all colored except the county judge
and surveyor.

Mobbed by his own Race
Richmond Tex. Aug 18. Jeff
Brown colored was mobbed by eight
or ten negroes about five miles west
of this place late yesterday evening.
He was arrested yesterday and placed
in jail on a charge of assault with in-
tent to rape a colored woman. He
gave bond and was released and on
his way home was met by the mob
and completely riddled with bullets
from Winchesters. Richard Hunt
another negro who was with Brown
was wounded by the mob acciden-

St. Paul Minn. Aug 19. Observ-
er Lyons reports the occurrence of a
killing frost the first of this season at
St. Vincent Minn. with a tempera-
ture fall to 30 before sunrise this
morning. The frost extended south-
ward to Moorhead and westwards to
Bismarck but was light at these
points though tending to retard the
maturinn of crops there. It was not
fatal at Winnepec. Reports have
been received from all over the wheat
belt and all agree in saying the im-
mense wheat crop is uninjured by last
night's cold snap.

Olutho Kan. Aug 10. Miss Annie
Williams a youug lady 21 years of

in a pane of glass which sevoied the
vein and caused hor death in ft few
minutes. When found she was hang-
ing by the neck ond all though not
quite dead shonover spoke afterwards.

Another Mexican Title Clear.
El Paso Tex. Aug 19. Another
big land suit based on an old Mexican
land grant is about to the instituted.
Estamslao Ronquillo living in Las
Vegas N. 'M. lays claim to 2345
souare miles of land along the banks
of the Rio. Grande opposite the town
of Presidio Del Norte and in the
counties of Presidio Brewster Foley
BucKel and Pecos all in Western
Texas. The grant was made in 1832
by the Alcade of Presidio Del Norte
and confirmed by the Governor of
Chihuahua in December 1834 to
Jose Ignaclo Ranquillo the father of
the present claimant who is about to
take measures to establish his claim
by legal process in the Texas State
courts or if necessary in the Federal
courts.

Charged with Inceit.
Denison Tex. Aug. 19. Indian
Policeman Fryer passed through here
to-night with a prisoner arrested near
Caddo 1. 1. The old man's name
could not do ascertained. He was
arrested for incest said to have been
committed in Franklin county nine
years ago and is being taken back to
the scene of his alleged crime.

Evansvillt Ind Aug 19. At
Oakland City Gibson county last
nicht Sherman Reeves a deputized
officer arrested his nephew Sherman
Grim for disordely conduct. A fight
ensued and both drew revolvers.
Grim was shot three times and will
die. Reeves was slightly wounded.
He gave himself up and was placed
under bond.

General Hamilton has received the
following dispatches concerning the
yellow fever in Florida:
Jacksonville Fla. Aug. 10. Offi
cial bulletin for the twenty-four hours
ending at 6 p. nv New cases 1 deaths
1 recoveries 2 under treatment 18
total number of cases to date 33 to
tal number of deaths to date 5. rever
assuming more severe type.

Palmetto.Fla. Aug. 19. One case
on 15th twoon 16th and 17th none

atee cases. Rostrictive measures
adopted.
Murray Surgeon.
Tampa Fla. Aug. 19 Only one
mild case since last report. Eleven
cases in all eight of which diagnosis
is positive. Three deaths with black
vomit. Another fever probably mild
dengue is here. Only one case of
yellow fever under treatment.
