Manufacturing in Texas, by Industries
Table below shows data on the various types of manufacturing industry in Texas as enu-
merated in the census of 1940 for operations of the preceding calendar year, 1939. They were
the latest available at time of publication of the Texas Almanac. In most instances they are
short of present figures on number of wage earners, pay roll and value of products. Also they
omit some large industries that have been established since 1940. They are presented. however.
as fairly representative of the proportion of business done by the older Texas industries.Q. Industry-
