THE TEXAS ALMANAC-1933,
Calendar for Texas, 1933.The tables on the three following pages
are compiled especially for use in Texas.
The time given for sunrise and sunset,
moonrise and moonset and for the moon's
phases is Standard (railroad) Central
time. The calculations are made for the
intersection of longitude 98 degrees W.,
and 32 degrees, 30 minutes N. This point
is in the northwest part of Hood County,
about seven miles northwest of Tolar, it is
chosen for the calculations in this calendar
because it is a point at which calculations
can be made from the American Ephemerts
and Nautical Almanac without great diffi-
culty, and at the same time it is relatively
near the center of population of the State.
To get standard time for other places in
Texas, four minutes should be added to the
time given in this calendar for every de-
gree of longitude such place lies west of
the 98th meridian, and four minutes sub-
tracted for every degree such place lies
east of the 98th. For example, Abilene
lies approximately 1 degree and 45 min-
utes west of the 98th, hence seven minutes
should be added to any figure given in the
calendar To get the time at Arlington,
which lies 1 degree east, four minutes
should be subtracted
There is a'so some variation, excepting
along the line of latitude 32 degrees, 30
minutes. North. when the sun or moon is
not exactly above the equator. No rule can
be given for correcting for these varia-
tions except at great length. For practi-
cal purposes the tables here given will
serve, it must be Iemembored that no
calendar giving standard time is exactly
correct for nmo e than one point on the
surface of the earth

appearing near each other.
o This symbol means that the two heav-
enly bodies differ by 90 degrees of
longitude
x This symbol means that the two heav-
