Organized Reserves.
Texas has a large representation in the
second civilian component of national defense
with maintenance of the commissioned per-
sonnel of the 90th (Reserve) Division. This
is now an all-Texas unit, perpetuating the
war-time 90th composed of both Texas and
Oklahoma National Army troops. The head-
quarters of the division are at San Antonio
and the permanent division staff is composed
of regular army officers assigned to it. Bri-
gade and regimental officers are all civilians
holding reserve commissions and normally
called to active service on a voluntary basis
two weeks each in two of every three years.
Regular army officers are assigned as unit
*Exempt from control of commanders of Eighth
Corps Areas and Departments, except as to routine
supplies for troops thereat as stated in AR
170-10.
