• Content Description: Photograph of the members of Young Judea, a Jewish youth organization in Fort Worth, Texas. The organization held a regional conclave at the Ahavath Sholom Synagogue, where over one hundred members and group advisors posed, on the front steps in the 800 block Taylor Street, for the photograph. Many people in the photograph are unidentified. • Display Note: Additional information about this photograph: When Young Judea, a Jewish youth organization, held a regional conclave in Fort Worth in 1940, more than 100 youngsters and chapter advisors posed for this group photo on the front steps of Ahavath Sholom at 819 Taylor Street. Of note is the close-up of the synagogue’s entrance with stained glass in the side windows and the double doors. The synagogue, a $15,000 two-story brick building, served the congregation from 1906 to 1951 when it was purchased by Jack Danciger and torn down to make room for a downtown parking lot.
