A natural gas leak in
Highlands forced the clo-
sure of FM 2100 T uesday,
inconveniencing many
motorists during the
evening traffic commute.
Harris County Precinct
3’s Sgt. Milton Coker said
the gas had apparently
been leaking for a few
days. The leak was from a
pipe very near.the roadway
where EM 2100 meets
Barbers Hill Road.
“I guess it was nothing
major, but you could smell
it,' he said.
Centerpoint Energy was
notified and sent crews out
KM to investigate, then repair
the problem. Coker said
deputies closed the farm to
market road about 4 p.m.;
forcing motorists headed in
either direction to take
detours around the site
while the repair crews dug
up the pipeline and made
repairs.
“I came through there
about 10 p.m. and they had
one lane open again, but
they were still working,”
Cokcrsaid.
The Centerpoint crews
completed their repairs
during the night.
