others went to the river to wash. Joe Fletcher was in the wagon with a gun and his cousin. A Mr. Adams was riding behind the wagon, when Joe saw a squirrel and went to get out of the wagon, and by some means struck the hammer on the wagon, discharging it into Adams' side, killing him almost instantly. Joe is subject to crazy spells, and it is feared he will go entirely crazy now.

Emma, George received a letter from Rob this eve and he tells us about the same you wrote me. And I guess we will have to believe it, but I still, somehow, believe it to be a very well arranged "April Fool." Emma, I am very sorry if I have offended you in reference to the Valentine. I some how think from the tone of your letter that I have, when I never dreamed of such a thing. I only wrote what I did about the kiss in fun and hope you will think the same. And I am very sorry your advice or prescription should have come too late, for I am happy to say I have cured them by the old method several
