Interest In tbe oil development ac-
tivities in this field. Hotels are
crowded and every available house
in town is occupied. Leasing buying
anu selling are active and a few real
estate deals have been reported dur-
ing the past few days.
A number of drilling contracts are
n earing the closing stage two of
them on the X M. Montgomery ranch
block 1. section 8. G. C. & & F. Rail-
way company survey south of Fort
Stockton. The derrick and entire tier
: have been completed and the bond
and contract witn j. uerger. 01 u-ni-fornla
specify that drilling will be-
gin not later than tbe 7th. prox. Mr.
Montgomery was in town last week
and gave assurance that drilling
would start very shortly.
Another Deep Test.
Tbe other deep test is on the Baker
White ranch east of town on block
3. section 11. Texas Central Railway
' company survey. The derrick and en-

and will be operated by the Texas
Top company and the bond and con-
tract specify that drilling must be-
gin by the 1Mb.
The other deep wells of the county

block 2. section 1. G. C. and S. D. and
R. G. it G. survey.

ASKS CARS TO MOVE TRUCK
CROP OF SOUTHWEST TEXAS
Washington. D. C April 5. Rep-
resentative Garner Saturday appealed
to the Interstate commerce commis-
sion to send refrigerator cars to
the southwestern Texas country to
handle the truck crops. Nine thous-
and cars are needed for the cabbage
crop and 6000 cars cor the onion
crop. A shortage of more than 20.-
000 cars exists. The officials told
Gamer they were making every ef-
fort to route cars to the section
where they are needed but because of
the shortage It is Impossible to sup-
ply all the cars wanted.
