HAVE YOU EVER.
Have you ever come to school
two weeks before anyone else and
started in training hard for, foot-
. ball?
Have you ever played against
McMurry when the rain was falling
in sheets and the mud was knee
deep?
Have you ever played at West-
minster when the weather was freez-
ing?
Have you stayed out for prac-
tice when some of our "Jellies"
were trying to S.. A. with the girl
of your choice?
Have you ever had a leg or col-
lar bone broken for the sake of
your school?
Have you seen any of our Ca-
dets and Cadet officers at the mov-,
ies or at a dance or when there was
a game or yell meeting going on?
Have you sweated blood and gone
through with a season of training?
—Then have the school say,"We
thank you for the Championship."
Just "thank you—that's all we need
from you now. Hope you will be
with us next year."
Have you?
John Tarleton Agricultural Agri-
cultural College Football Team,
The Winners Of The Junior. Col-
lege Championship, HAS.
. THE C, 0. CLUB
Since the last contribution to the
J-Tac, no one has advanced a fur-
ther meaning for the much-won-
dered-at C. C,. (The Sam Browne
was found was found, so beware.)
We missed a repost in last week's
peper and nearly missed one .this
week, on account of lack of news,
loyalty, or something; we will have
to make this an exceedingly good
one.
Xo^inake this a good report the
first thing to say will be "We Won
—27-5!"
Yeh, we won 'cause we were there
more than 100% strong. -Even
though we didn't pitch a single goal
we yelled and helped the Plowboys
pitch them (so they say.)
- One of .our wildest 7and,most fear-
ed members has , been forced to
leave Tarleton on account of his
roving spirit and wayward habits.
It is rumored that he, Jesse Janies,
carries a gun and a knife (I'll bet
that's only on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday.)
Our dear friend Petty made us an-
other visit. They surely are getting
to be an every-day orcurence. It
seems that he takes a, more active
part in our welfare now than he
did before. Or is it our welfare?
Maybe it's her welfare. Anyway, he
al.ways drops in for a minute or
two but no more. I'll bet Bud
Smith has an enormous light bill
or maybe they turned the lights
out. He is even getting a new car.
Wonder if he has the license yet?
(I mean for the car.)
Jack Overton had a guest for the
week-end, his cousin from Dublin.
From the looks of the De Leon
visitors this week-end, they must
be moving De Leon to Stephenville.
'■ After all the moving, quitting,
transferring, transportating, etc, we
still have thirteen members of
which we are very proud. 1 But we
are in danger of losing two unless
certain conditions change.
As Double-Ugly has done nothing
of importance, this week we won't
even mention his name.
- We have-a baseball team in the
making and here's to State Cham-
pionship in Baseball (not for us,
but for Tarleton.)
You gig 'em John, Pm barefoot-
ed.
Farewell 'til next week.
E UP EXES.
TESTS-TRY THIS
ONE
There has been considerable talk
about "intelligence tests" lately,
and a number of us are wondering
what they consist of.
Here is a part of one given by
a large electrical concern in the
north:
1. Which is the largest river?
2. Bound the State of West Vir-
ginia.
3. What voltage is used in street
cars? „

t Several weeks ago the President
of the Ex-Students Association
wrote you a letter in regard to the
Association. Have you answered
that letter? Do you regard your
friend's letters in such a manner?
Do you cast them aside and fail to
answer them?
The President of the Ex-Studehls
Association is one of your best
friends if you will let him be. He
is trying to perfect an organization
whereby you will be, able to help
your Alnia Mater and keep in close
touch with your friends and class-
mates. With your help he can do
this, but without your aid he is
helpless, for no, j>rganizatiQn-.has
ever succeeded without co-opera-
tion. ■
Put the, President of' the Ex-Stu-
dents Association ,on your corres-
pondence list and write him a let-
ter tomorrow. No, riot tomorrow,
today. Tomorrow never comes. He
is expecting an answer to his letter
of several weeks ago. How long
are you going to keep him waiting?
Exes., it is up to you. Do you
want an Ex-Students Association?Do
you want to meet the Exes at the
close of school? Do you want to
attend a banquet for the Exes? If
so, what are you willing to do to
make the organization s success?
Think these questions over and act.
PLOWBOYS WIN SECOND CHAMPIONSHIP
OF THE TEAS BY DEFEATING
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE?
It is a human tendency to be
very critical -of every one and
everything, except ourselves, It is
fairly natural to set a mark and a
goal and a series of ideals by which
to~ measure other people. But to
have personal ideals' should, be as
general and instinctive—and is not.
However, more and more the
world is getting a social and per-
sonal conscience. More and more
v/e hold ourselves to ideals and more
and more we live by big, fine, beau-
tiful creeds. <
One of the best and simplest
creeds I know is embodied im the
following lines,
"I would be true, for there are
those who trust me;
I would be pure, for there are
those who care.
I would be strong, for there is
much to suffer.
I would be brave for there is
much to hear.
I would be a friend to all—the
foe, the friendless.
I would be giving, and forget
the gift;
I would be humble for I know
my weakness;
I would look up—and laugh—
and love—and lift.
One must cultivate truth in oiie's
nature, and loyalty to those who
trust you. One does not live to
one's self alone. Faillure and de-
feat hurt each of us as an indiv-
dual, and they hurt those who care
for us too.
For the second time this year the Plowboys defeated the
Burleson■/athletes of Greenville for a State Championship.
This time it was Basketball. Baseball next???
Friday night the Plowboys were badly off form and miss-
ed almost twice as many crip shots as there were scores
made. The final score was 25 to 12, but it should have
been greater for Tarleton. : The game was very loose, neith-
er quintet being able to hit die basket very many times. The
passing of botir teams was bad, and they hev"er seemed to
get started before the game was over.
The most outstanding players were1 Johnson, Starr, and
Davis, for Tarleton. Johnson was high point man, with
6 points, and Starr followed with 5, Johnson and Nix
played fastei than most of the team, but they never really
got into good form. Starr and Davis did good guarding
as usual.
The second game was quite a different story. The Plow-
boys started off on the right foot and did not stop until the
mal whistle sounded. Jennings, who could not find the
basket the first night, rung goal after goal from back of
the double lines and played a good game at center." Big
jess Davis and Starr were rather tight with the visitors, al-
owing them only one field goal during the entire game..
Ihe other three points made were the result of free pitches..
Johnson was high point man again, with 10 points to his
credit. Jennings made nine points and Nix made three
Mar and Davis made two points each, and Fitzgerald, in the
few minutes he played made one. The final score was
twenty-seven to five. .
Nix^knocked out and had to be replaced by Fitzger-
ald, who, played his usual fast game. g
At no time during either game were the Plowboys in dan-
ger of being defeated. This was quite different from the
last championship game we played with Burleson.
Anderson from Lowe-Camble, Dallas called both games
Truth^ purity, strength, and bra-
very are a wonderful armor with
which to gird one's soul against any-
thing that might tempt one to evil.
All of us; owe it to ourselves to be
big, fine and splendid. We owe it
too those who would he hurt by our
failure.
The soul that meets the world
with friendship, generosity, and
humbleness, and is free from the
vice of intolerance, has a sweet
loviliness to add to its strength.
Friendship and admiration come to
it and because it merits love, love
is given to it.
ro look up means to be an optim-
ist rather than a pessimist, it means
to cultivate a sane outlook on life;
to laugh in the face of difficulties.
Learn the little verse, and in the
spirit of. love evolve for yourself
an ideal for the sort of person you
wish to be.
