Congress yesterday to grant state.

Seaton's testimony was read by
Assistant Interior Secretary Hat-
field. Chilson as a house interior
.subcommittee opened hearings on
statehood proposals.
However, Seaton said the ad-
ministration is for' the Alaskan
_ Statehood Bill with certain amend-
ments.
The amendments would allow
the President to exercise exclu-
sive-jurisdiction for defense pur-
poses over the barren, sparsely
populated areas in the north and
1 west of Alaska.'

Players' production of "Hamlet" which will be presented March
26 is Douglas Campbell veteran actor and director. "Hamlet"
will be presented at 8 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. Admis-

at Tavleton State College, went to
Waco Friday to be on the selection
committee for the Hoblitzelle
Award. ..
The award, which was establish-
ed in 19C0, is presented every two
years to the Texan who has made
the most notable contribution to
the advancement of agriculture in
Texas for the preceding' four-year
'period. Its purpose is to provide
suitable recognition and financial
encouragement to this man through
$5,000 - in cash and a gold medal-
lion
All1 adults working in Texas in
the i'ieki of agriculture, irrespec-
tive of creed, color, nationality, sex,
age, branch of agriculture or affil-
liation wit hagrieultural organiza-
tions, - are eligible.
The selection process, in every
respect, follows democratic, pro-
cedures. The state is divided' into
five regions with a nominating
committee representing each re-
gion. It is the duty of each com-
mittee to review the work accom-
plished in its region and to receive
and! make nominations for the
award. Mr, Autry will meet with
the region five committee.
