Prof. Straiho closed his public
sch joI at Diinmitt Friday last. The
Professor taught eight months school
—two months in the summer and six
months during the fall and winter.
The closing exercises consisted of
recitations, songs, dialogues, and a
spelling contest. Books were pre-
sented as rewards of merit to Misses
Mattie Hid, Willie Slover, Pearl
Tate, Mary Hill and Charley Hub-
bard. The pupils were also given a
candy breaking after the exercises,
which was very much enjoyed.
W. A. Earnest was in town Sat-
urday.

the Panhandle Cattlemen's conven-
tion at Childress this week.
