Dr. D. H. Hudgins of Forney,
Texas, who has been visiting his
brother-in-law, W. B. Anthony, after
1 looking around announces his inten-
tion of making Hereford his home in
the future. Dr. Hudtjiru is a prac-
ticing physician with a number of
years successful experience to his
credit. He comes to Hereford, not
because he does not enjoy a good
p'actice in his East Texas home, but
| because of the climate of the Plains,
and more especially on account o£
the schools of Hereford.
Judge J. R. Dean of Woodward,
Oklahoma, was visiting old time
friends in Hereford this week. Judge
Dean was the first ]udge of Deaf
Smith county and is pleased to see
the wonderful growth and develop-
ment of the country. He hail heard
something about the new things the
Hereford country had but was sur-
prised beyond wonderment after he
arrived.
Revival at Summertield.
The Baptist brethren have just
1 closed a most successful revival
meeting at Summerfield. Reverends
II irder and Speakman did the
preaching. A number of accessions
to the church were made and a gen-
eral good feeling aroused.
Tools Stolen.
Some tools were stolen from the
telephone office Wednesday. Unless
brought bark at once proceedings
will be taken according to law. 2h-.'A
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Stewart of
Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, have been
¡ here for the past several days look-
ing ai'.er their land interests. Mr.
Stewart has a genuine case of Boos-
teritis and on account of which he
returned home Wednesday and will
spread the news among his neigh-
bors.

Robert Elliott left Thursday even-

W. J. Stanford has started a big
| steam plow in the Busy Bee Farm
belonging to W. S. Ranee. .300
acres of sod will be turned making
| 1500 acres in cultivation. There were
i this year 600 acres in wheat and there
> is now growing a feed crop of 600
i acres. Mr.Stanford has a three-year
lease.
Mr. and Mrs. J. 1 >. Jenkins, for-
merly of West, Texas, but who for
the last three years have been ranch-
ing in Hutchinson county, have
moved tc Hereford and will make
their home here. Mr. Jenkins has
bought a tract of land near the col-
lege and is preparing to build a nice
residence on same.
Miss Hattie Edwards has ;ust ar-
rived from Valley Mills, Texas,
where she has beer: teaching a class
in violin. She will join her sister,
j Miss Jennie Edwards, in conducting
! a music school in Hereford. They
, have had erected a building next to
| the Methodist church where instruc-
tion will be given.
Ira A. Braden of Colorado has just
closed a deal for a sheep ranch north-
west of town. Fifteen hundred head
of sheep will be placed on the ranch
at once. Mr. Braden has placed an
order for 15,000 feet of lumber sheds
and other improvements. * The deal
was made thru the Scherer Town Lot
and Emigration Company.
