Delegates Named
By HD Council
Delegates to the state conven
tion to be held in San Angelo in
August were elected by the Or-
ange County Home Demonstration
Council during'its regular meeting
Monday at the county courthouse
Mrs. Hollis Brown, chairman of
the county council; Mrs. L. F.
Pearson of Bridge City, and Mrs.
Gardner Hinnant were chosen
from persons nomiristed from the
various clubs. Mrs, H, W,' Peveto
of the Pine Forest dub was
named alternate.

prayer by Mrs. F. B. Shannon.
Mrs. Dick Rankins was in charge
of the recreation period in which
sentences were made from five
words beginning with OCHDC.
Mrs. Peveto gave the five-min-
ute demonstration, showing how
artificial flowers can be made into
an artistic arrangement by put-
ting them in melted wax, then let-
ting it set .to hold them in place.
She also gave this tip to prevent
baking powder from caking in the
bottom of the can: piare it upside
down when storing it in the Cabi-
net:.
An old-fashioned basket picnic
for all clubs Was planned for Julv

members, their families and friends

p.m. include use of pine needles
in makinp such articles as baskets,
hats and trays. Four women

1 teaspoon salt, ^ cup shortening,
1' t cupi firmly-packed dark brown
sugar. Vj cup flaked Coconut, si
cup chopped pecans. 2xcggs,
cup milk, 1 teaspoon van:
Sift together the flour, baking
powder and salt. Cut or rub Hn
shortening until mixture is crurfi-
ly. Mix in brown sugar, coconut
and pecans. Beat eggs until thick11
and ivory-colored; add milk and
vunilla and bet enough to com-
bine: add to flour mixture: mix
well. Turn into greased baking pan
(9 by 13 by 2 inches) and «preud
evenly. Bake in moderagte (350 de-
grees) oven 40 to 45 minutes. Cool
iV pan placed on wire rack about
10 minutes; cut into bars. Cool
bars entirely before removing

tightly covered container.
