tive to the subject of kindergsrten
in the public sobools;
Ived by the public school

gartén work into the, city school
system of Sherman.
"Resolved, furthermore that as a
beginning of this work we select a
kindergarten teacher as soon as
practicable, who shall be allowed with
the aid of the superintendent to or-
ganise a kindergarten ólass for chil
dren under sohool age, or
mote of the rooms of • of
our public school J to

tuition at a^a|iof not exceeding two

for each piipil and that out of said

Work has begun on the svrvey of
the town of Woodville, I. T , and it ia
being platted by the Frisco towusite
mían, H. Q. Beard. He expects to
have the survey completed l y the

on sale. The merchants -of the old
town are going to move to tbe new
town without complaint. They are
very hopeful for their new town and
are going to usé a united pull toward

Parties from WhiteWright say that
the rain Sunday a week ago and the
steady downpour yesterday haa done
their crops an immense amount of
good and that their loss on cottou so
far is very slight. At Celeste and

cotton \rop, owing to failure from
floods in several cotton states and the
shortage ofNsupply at the factories.
Charles NoajThad three .cows stolen
out of the Munaon^Misture, near Den-
ison, about two yearsWo. Recently
ho found one of themlon a farm about
four miles northw^&r of Sherman. He
carried his wife to the farm, and she
identified the cow by marks and
brands, having raised the animal.
Mr. Noak has not yet recovered the
animal, but will do so.
A couple of women were fined in
corporation court this morning for
vagrancy—one yielding up a five and
the other a ten, in addition to tbe
trimmings. A man was involved in
the same high time in the tenderloin
district, but failed to appear. Papers
were issued tor him.
Last night a business house on tbe
east side of Travis street, between
Lamar and Jones, closed up all open-
ings and the entire force of employes,
armed with clubs, went on a rat hunt
in the building. At 10:30 eighteen
big fellows had been slaughtered and
the massacre was still on. There waa
enough meat wasted to make "canned
squirrell' for half a doxen families.
G. E. Reeves of Pottsboro was in
the city yeaterday evening. Mr.
Reeves says the people in that local
ity are taking great intereat in tbe
Confederate picnic to be held at old
Georgetown,, and tha; all who attend
may expect hospitable treatment fol-
lowing* hearty welcome.

his old homo today to inter the re
mains of an infant born in Ft. Worth
where Mr. Harrington uow lives.
Many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Har-
rington condole with them.

A difficulty occurred ¡on the Mills
f6?m, three mifes southwest of Sher-
man, last night about 10 o'clock,
which caused all aorta of horrible ru-
mors. One was that a man's skull
bad been crushed in and hia eye
forced from tbe socket by the blow.
It waa not that bad, but is bad
enough jn reality. A threshing out-
fit is át work on the Mills farm, and
has an independent kitchen attached

been iij. Sherman in the afternoon
and evening. He l^rturned to the
camp about the aenlionad and

He was knocked insensible and re-
