No. 283 Chapter 729 1 AN ACT 2 relating to the membership and activities of local school health 3 advisory councils and to parental involvement in human sexuality 4 instruction in public schools. 5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 6 SECTION 1. Section 28.004, Education Code, is amended by 7 amending Subsections (d) and (i) and adding Subsections (d-l), 8 (i-l), (m), (m-l), and (m-2) to read as follows: 9 (d) The board of trustees shall appoint at least five 10 members to the local school health advisory council. A majority of 11 the members must be persons who are parents of students enrolled in 12 the district and who are not employed by the district. One of those 13 members shall serve as chair or co-chair of the council. The board 14 of trustees also may appoint one or more persons from each of the 15 following groups or a representative from a group other than a group
16 specified under this subsection: 17 (1) public school teachers; 18 (2) public school administrators; 19 (3) district students; 20 (4) health care professionals; 21 (5) the business community; 22 (6) law enforcement; 23 (7) senior citizens; 24 (8) the clergy; and
