No. 926 Chapter 502 1 AN ACT 2 relating to the imposition of a civil penalty against the owner of 3 an authorized emergency vehicle for a violation recorded by a 4 photographic traffic signal enforcement system. 5 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 6 SECTION 1. Chapter 707, Transportation Code, is amended by 7 adding Section 707.0021 to read as follows: 8 Sec. 707.0021. IMPOSITION OF CIVIL PENALTY ON OWNER OF 9 AUTHORIZED EMERGENCY VEHICLE. (a) In this section, "authorized 10 emergency vehicle" has the meaning assigned by Section 541.201. 11 (b) A local authority may not impose or attempt to impose a 12 civil penalty under this chapter on the owner of an authorized 13 emergency vehicle. 14 (c) This section does not prohibit an employer from taking 15 disciplinary action against an employee who as the operator of an
16 authorized emergency vehicle operated the vehicle in violation of a 17 rule or policy of the employer. 18 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
