Odell Watson, 52. member of
a well known Cherokee County
family and a citizen of Maydelle.
died as a result of a truck acci-
dent near Stanford. Kentucky
Thursday, August 22, 1957.
Funeral services were conduct-
ed Monday from the First Bap-
tist Church in Maydelle with Rev.
O. P. Meador of Weches officiat-
ing. Burial was in the Mt. Com-
fort Cemetery under the direction
of Hassell, Foster Funeral Home
of Palestine.
He is survived by his wile, Mrs.
Zora Watson of Maydelle, 3 bro-
thers, B. I). Watson of Maydelle,
G. W, Watson of San Antonio,
and M. R. Watson of Houston, 1
sister, Mrs. Myrtie McLen o f
Houston, 1 stepson, J. L. Gunnels
of Ada. Okla., 1 stepdaughter,
Mrs. Madra Alexander of May-
delle, and many other relatives
and firends to mourn his going.
Pallbearers were: Floyd R.
Cleveland, Jr., Clyde Bowman,
Larry Rodgers, J. W. Miller, Dew-
ey Ferrell and Dwain Farrell.
Mrs. Rctilla Ball was delight-
fully surprised Saturda> after-
noon when a group of her neigh-
bors gathered bearing gifts and
refreshments to celebrate her

Those sending gifts were Mrs. El-
sie Ezell, Mrs. Vivian Ross, Ethel
Cellum and Jessie Woodall.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Moore have
returned from their vacation, vis-
iting places of interest in Arkan-
sas at Hot Springs, Ft. Smith, Van
Buren. They travelled about 1200
miles.
Mrs. Florence Slider, 2 daugh-
ters and 3 grandchildren, Mr.
Frank Pryor and wife of Rusk
and Mrs. Mabel Cornelius and Ca-
rol Frances Glidden were visitors'
of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Glidden
this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady Watson,
their daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. J. D. Williams and chil-
dren of San Antonio spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Everett Moore.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ezell visited
in Ft. Worth this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Llewellyn Watson
and Watty visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Hayden Luper Sunday even-
ing.
Mrs. Ruth French entered the
Nan Travis Hospital for an oper-
ation Monday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Bothwell
visited his mother, Mrs. M a u d
Bothwell, Sunday.
Mrs. Lizzie Crume of Eldorado,
Ark., is visiting her sister, Mrs.
Kate Sherman, this week.
Mr. Hayden Luper was a busi-
ness visitor in Greggton Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Graves Watson
and Vurlene visited her mother,
Mrs. Nannie Piper of Center. Sun-
day.
James Penn of Rusk was a busi-
ness visitor to Maydelle Monday.
Mrs. Nora Watson has returned
to her home in Jacksonville after
a week's visiting relatives and fri-
ends here.
The Pleasant Grove Revival
closed Sunday. Rev. Krikland was
the visiting minister. There were
3 additions to the church.

For Fish Fry At

The lawn of Mr. and Mrs. V. J.
Long on the Jacksonville High-
way was the scene of a fish fry
for the Citizens Industrial Insur-
ance Company employees and
families Friday night, August 23.
A meal of fish, hush puppies,
baked beans, French fried pota-
toes. ice cream and cake were

Tuesday for a few days fishing at

returning home.

ville. attended funeral services
for their uncle and brother-in-law,

day from two weeks vacation.
They visited their son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Staff-Sgt. and Mrs.
Bob Hubbard at Washington, D.
C. and many points of interest in
and near there, including the
Great Falls on the Potomac. They
visited Mrs. Hubbard's brother-in-
law and sister, Chaplain and Mrs.
J. H. Blnnk and children at Alex-
andria, Virginia. On their return
home spent Tues. and Tucs. night
with Mr. Hubbard's brother and
family, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hub-
bard. at Conway, Arkansas.
Sgt. Bob Hubbard is now on a
tour with the Air Force Band and
Singing Sergeants at Ottawa, Can-
ada.
Mrs. Leo Tosh had as guests
Saturday night her mtoher, Mrs.
M. L. Fulgham of Crockett, her
sisters, Mrs. W. S. White of Chan-
n el view and Mrs. Tommy Adkins
of Pasadena. Mrs. Tosh accompa-
nied l h e m to Crockett Sunday
where they celebrated Mrs. Fulg-
ham's Ttith birthday with all her
eight children and 15 grandchil-
dren present.
Mrs. T. A. M c I v e r returned
Thursday from two weeks visit
with friends at Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Lena Belle Pirtle visited
her parents, Mr. a n d Mrs. Jim
Murrah, at Levelland this week.
