Students participate in jump rope benefit
By SUSIE JONES,
Elementary P.E. Coach, Alto
Alto Elementary School students
in grades one through six par-
ticipated in a local Jump Rope for
Heart event held annual through
their elementary physical
education classes. The event was
held during February which was
designated as "Heart Month" by
the American Heart Association.
All students participating in the
activity worked very hard to raise
money for the American Heart
Association. As a result of the effor-
ts of some 140 students who collec-
ted money, Alto found themselves
third among those schools who par-
ticipated in the event in Cherokee
County. Alto Elementary students
raised a grand total of $1,854.25, just
under the amount raised by
Jacksonville schools. The money
that was raised through this event
will remain in the local American
Heart Association budget and will
go to defray such costs as heart
patient needs and education.
Materials provided free to schools
for all grade levels.
Each student who participated
and collected two dollars or more
