at Hendrick Cemetery
An official Texas Cemetery Medal-
lion will be dedicated at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Hendrick
Cemetery. The cemetery is located
in the Bulah community.

The Henry Cemetery Association
and the Cherokee County Historical
Commission will host a cemetery me-
dallion dedication at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The cemetery is located on the north
side of FM 22 between Gallatin and
State Highway 110.
The cemetery was established in
1852 for the burial of Parolee Henry
Clark. Two sections were established
in the cemetery. One was for Cauca-
sian and the other for African Ameri-
cans. The Henry Cemetery records
document the burial of early pioneers
to present day citizens. Buried in the
cemetery are pioneers, slaves, free
black individuals, elected officials,
businessmen, farmers and military
veterans.

Rusk. Mrs. Powers was past
matron of The Order Of The
Eastern Star Chapter #79,
JERRY F. HOOD
Funeral for Jerry F. Hood,
72, of Jacksonville was at 10
a.m. Saturday at Autry Fu-
neral Home chapel with Rev.
Jim Goforth officiating. Burial
was in ('orine Cemetery.
Mr. Hood died Oct. 14. He
was born Oct. 15, 1936, in
Jacksonville to Omer Hood
and Ethel Holcomb Hood. Mr.
Hood was a Baptist, served in
the U. S. Air Force and was a
retired truck driver.
He was a member of Tyler
Modeler's Club, Aqua Nuts,
Bullard Flying Club and Dis-
abled American Veterans.
Jerry was a model airplane
enthusiast whose favorite
pastime was building and
displaying his airplanes.
He wa s preceded in death by
his parents; wife, Mary Hood;
granddaughter, Christina Ev-
ans: great-grandson, Cameron
Evans; two brothers, Dewey
Hood and Bennie Hood; and
two sisters, Elsie Coulter and
Imogene Bassart.
Survivors include five
daughters and a son-in-law,
Cindy Henderson and Kim-
berly Evans of Tyler, Carla and
Mike Terry of Bullard, Tracy

and Canada, as well as other
countries such as Germany,
Nicaragua, Haiti, Jamaica,
South America, and the Brit-
ish Isles.

The Texas State Railroad
Authority met Oct. 14 in
Rusk for the second time
this month to discuss some
of the unresolved issues of a
recently negotiated contract
with Schrickel, Rolhns and
Associates. The firm was low
bidder for a specific service
creating a long range master
plan. After discussion, the
board approved Chairman
Stévé Presley's suggestion to
meet again at 9 a.m. Oct. 28
in city hall at Palestine.
