The first Barnett child bom in
Panola County was John Crawford
who was born at Galloway in 1846.
Of the eleven children of Hiram
and Debra, several died before
maturity.
The first three brothers were
Confederate soldiers in the Civil
War All were in Texas Companies.
Four of those eleven reared fami-
lies in this area
William Haley, the first son,
was killed in action on June 16,
1862. Joseph Simeon, the second
son, was a war casualty on June 6,
1862. John Crawford, the third son,
served in the 34th Texas Cavalry,
lived through the war and returned
to Galloway where he married
Casandra Sinclair, in 1866.
Fourteen children were born to
John and Casandra, including two
sets of twins. Eleven of those chil-
dren reared families in the area
William Joseph Barnett, born in
1867, married Martha Harrison,
and their children included the late
Mrs. Lula Barnett Henry, who was
a long time newspaper reporter for
Sixty years celebrated
Mr. and Mrs. Buford Langford celebrated their 60th wedding an-
niversary with family on Jan. 7, 1995. The couple has lived in the Bun-
combe Community all their lives. 'Mr. Buford' is a retired employee of
Cities Service. Mrs. Langford is the former Emma Cecil Ritter. Cele-
brating the occasion were daughters and sons-in-law, JoAnn and
Calvin Hancock, Jeanette and Troy Lake; six grandchildren, Janet
Humber, Donna Williams, Marian Rushton, David Hancock, Dwain
Lake and Beth Strain; and great-grandchildren Philip Humber,

Farley and Pruitt to wed
Mary Jeniffer Farley and Lonnie Pruitt wish to announce their en-
gagement and upcoming marriage. The couple will exchange vows
Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. at First Christian Church. Pastor Don Cocklin will

High School, a 1990 graduate of Panola College, and a May 1993
gradnnte of the University of Texas at Austin, where she received a

a currently employed by the Grand Prairie Independent School District.

. bachelor of business administration from Stephen F. Austin State Uni-
versity to Dec. 1909. He to n senior merchandise manager for the J.C.
Penney Company in Kerrville. The couple will marry June 10 at the

The William Hiram Bameu
family came to Texas from Macon.
Georgia, in 1842 .
They slopped at Beaumont,
Texas, where their first two
children were born: William Haley
Barnett and Joseph Simeon Bameu.
By 1846, the family had estab-
lished itself at Galloway, Panola
County, Texas There, they secured
land and established a farm Their
other nine children (eleven in all)
were born in Galloway Thanks to
Eloise Barnett Taylor and Carthage
puNic school students, research has
been done so that a great deal of
help is available for genealogists
who are descendants of this family
Eloise said almost a thousand de-
scendants can be identified.

Teresa Kay Rinkle of Longview and Dan Russell Reaves of Hallsville were
united in marriage on Jan 7 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in
Hallsville. The Rev. David Fyock of Alliance Bible Church in Longview offici-
ated the double-ring ceremony before 300 guests.
The bride is the daughter of Earnum Rinkle of Tatum and Tommie Crow of
Carthage. The groom is the son of Danny and Sue Reaves of Hallsville.
Wedding music was provided by flutist Emily Rivard.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a candlelight silk shantung
gown with an overlay of imported guiphure lace embellished with more than
12,000 seed pearls and sequins. The gown was designed and sewn especially for
the bride by her mother, Thomasine Crow It was styled with a sweetheart neck
line, dropped waistline, long sleeves and cathedral length train. Appliques of pearl
and sequin embellished guiphure lace adorned the train and sleeves as well as the
entire hemline The bodice was completely covered with the same lace.
The bride's arm bouquet was fashioned with burgundy Victorian roses and En
glish ivy, filled with gypsophilia and cream white freesia flowing from the center.
Sprays of seed pearls burst from the bouquet The bouquet and all the wedding
flowers were designed and arranged by the bride’s mother
The matron of honor was Mrs Ladina Wingert of Denton. Bridesmaids were
Mrs. Carol Loizeaux of Longview and Mrs. Ginger Calhoun of Panola.
The bridesmaids dresses were of burgundy silk shantung accented with bits of
pearl-embellished guiphure lace from the bride's dress. Each bridesmaid chose her
personal style, but all the dresses were made from the same fabric. They carried
arm bouquets of stargazer lilies and gypsophilia
The ring bearers were Miss Natalie Reaves and Miss Brittany Reaves of While
Oak, the groom's daughters.
The best man was Allen Reaves of Hallsville, the groom's brother. Groomsmen
were Tracy McFadden of Hallsville and Tommy Rinkle of Tenaha, the bride’s
brother
Ushers were Dave Witt Mark Witt, Dan Cunningham and Brant Cunningham,
all of Longview
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church. Decorations were
in burgundy and ivory. The bride’s cake was a three layer tiered raspberry filled
cake with white icing surrounded by six satellite heart shaped cakes to match.
They were decorated with burgundy sweetheart roses and cream white freesia.

Guests were served fresh pineapple, grapes, and orange sections from the fruit

The house party included Mrs Sherry Cunningham, Mrs Linda Dean. Miss
Jennifer Dean, Mrs Barbara Johnson, Mrs Shirley Nixon, Mrs. Jackie Rivard.
Mrs Sharon Schwaderer, Ms Betty Seeley. Mrs Debbie Smith, Mrs Jane Swan.

wore a designer gown by Alfred Angel The gown featured a V neckline ac-
cented with seed pearls, inidescent sequins ana Alencon lace The Basque waist
was embellished with pearls, lace and sequins and was gathered at the back with a
pearl-outlined satin bow The full gathered sleeves tapered to the wnst The satin
skirt featured appliqued illusion. Alencon lace, pearls and sequins, falling into a
cathedral tram The illusion veil featured a headpiece of miniature white roses and
seed pearls
The bride earned her first Bible. a white New TestamenL topped with a bou
quel of white silk roses, English ivy, gypsophilia and baby s breath The bouquet
cascaded into nbbon love knots entwining the bride s baby ring, her parents
wedding rings, and a miniature Bible. She wore a single strand of pearls belonging
to her late grandmother
The church was decorated m seasonal holiday greenery, red and green porn
settias, punctuated with Chinese evergreens, fichus trees, and white satin ribbons.
Red velvet ribbons designated family pews A brass arched candelabrum held
white tapers. English ivy and white satin streamers A single candelabrum held a
bell shaped unity candle trimmed with miniature roses, ribbons and wedding rings
surrounded by two white family tapers
Mrs. Suzanne Mason of Carthage provided traditional wedding music as well
as Christmas classical favorites on the organ Candles were lit by the bride s
brother. Scott Anderson of Nacogdoches Serving as ushers were Mr .Anderson.
Steve Worsham of Houston, a friend of the groom, and Troy Emig of Bullard,

Performing the double -ring ceremony was the grooms father, the Rev James
Gaines of Corsicana. He read passages from the Bible concerning marriage before
pronouncing vows for the couple The couple lit a unity candle from the two fam
ily candles. then were introd iced as man and wife by the grooms father
Serving as matron of honor was Mrs Melinda Anderson of Nacogdoches, sis
ter -in law of the bride She wore a deep green crepe suit with matching green
shoes. She carried a single long stemmed while rose Serving as bridesmaid was
Mrs. Julie Mayfield of Arlington. She wore a red wool suit with black accessories.
She also carried a single long-stemmed white rose. Presiding at the bride’s book
was Mrs. Kim Funderburke of Many. La She wore an emerald green satin suit
with matching accessories The flower girl was Kaleigh Anderson of
Nacogdoches, niece of the bride. She earned a white wicker basket with white
indescent ribbon and wore a green velvet trimmed lace dress with black patent
shoes
Serving the groom as best man was Dr Michael Key of Palestine. Serving as
groomsman was David Tailant of Dallas The groom wore a Bill Blass white
tuxedo with black lapels and black trousers The groom's attendants wore black
suits with miniature white rose boutonnieres
The bride’s mother, Mrs Shirley Anderson of Carthage, wore a red wool suit
with red fabric rosettes with matching accessories. The groom’s mother, Mrs Faye
Games of Corsicana, wore a red, black and white suit with black accessories. Both
mothers added white rose corsages tp their ensembles. The bride’s grandmother,
Mrs. Sarah Anderson of Carthage, also accessorized her ensemble with a white
rose corsage
A reception followed the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. The bride’s
table was centered by the bride's cake, designed and decorated by Mrs. Glenda
Everett of Carthage. The multi -tiered cake was encircled with red silk poinsettia.
Cranberry punch was served from a crystal punch service presided over by Mrs
Funderburke. The groom s table was centered with crystal deer figurines and a
chocolate cake with a deer head Serving from the silver coffee service at the
groom's table was Mrs. Julie Tallant of Dallas, a friend of the groom A table of
delicacies including a Brie cheese mold with praline topping, finger sandwiches,
and hors d'oeuvres completed the occasion
Mrs. Pat Smith of the Hobby Horse in Carthage served as wedding consultant
Assisting her were Mr. and Mrs. Terry Everett.
Out-of-town guests for the wedding were Mr and Mrs. Bill Tallant of Corsi-
cana. MrPand Mrs. Tommy Anz of Granbury, Mr and Mrs. T.K. Ray of Kilgore,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smith and Kelsey of Los Angeles, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Richard
J Giles of Corsicana, Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Thomas of Houston, Mr and Mrs. Milton
' Hudspeth, Mrs. Jeffrey Hudspeth, Justin Jarrod and Jordan Hudspeth of Zavala,

’ After a brief honeymoon trip to Arkansas, the couple will make their home in
! Corsicana, where the bride is a sixth grade music teacher at Drane Middle School
J and the groom will be doing his internship in marriage and family counseling at
• Navarro College. The bride is a 1987 graduate of Carthage High School and a
i graduate of Stephen F. Austin University. The groom is a graduate of Corsicana
! High School and SFA and is a spring candidate for his masters degree. He will
continue his post graduate work in psychology and counseling in the summer.

at 10 months old Adella Bameu,
bor in 1871, married Joe Chil-
dress; Lou Ella Bameu, 1873, died
at age 5; Maire Bathie, born in
1875-a twin- married Dick

a twin-married Florence Adams.
Elizah Barnett, born in 1877,
married Nealie Hanson; Elisha
Barnett, 1877 a twin-died at less
than a year old Henry Barnett,

McDaniel; and Ellen Barnett. 1883,
married Bud Sikes.

nett. John Crawford's family had a
total of 78 grandchildren. Eloise
said that sixty of them grew to
maturity.
