CREATING AND INCORPORATING THE KLONDIKE INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT IN DAWSON
COUNTY.
H. B. No. 50.] CHAPTER 53.
An Act creating and incorporating the Klondike Independent School
District in Dawson County, Texas, out of territory now composing
Common School District No. 26 in said county; defining its boundaries;
providing for a board of trustees thereof, and defining their
powers and authority; authorizing said board of trustees to levy,
assess and collect taxes for maintenance and building purposes and to
issue bonds therefor, and providing that said Klondike Independent
School District shall assume all the obligations and indebtedness of
said Common School District No. 26, vesting title to property of said
Common School District No. 26 in Klondike Independent School District;
providing for an assessor and collector of taxes thereof, and
providing for a board of equalization of said district; providing for
the election and terms of office of trustees thereof, and declaring an
emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. An independent school district to be known as
Klondike Independent School District, situated in Dawson
County, Texas, is hereby created as an incorporation for free
school purposes only.
SEC. 2. The said Klondike Independent School District, hereby
created, shall include the territory now embraced within
Common School District No. 26 in Dawson County, as heretofore
created and established by the commissioners' court of
Dawson county, which territory is described by metes and
bounds as follows:
Beginning at the N. W. corner of Section No. 7, Block No.
36, Tsp. 4 north, T. thence south with
section lines, to where the south line of Dawson County crosses
the west line of Section No. 31 same block; thence east with
the south line of said Dawson County, through Sections Nos. 3132-33-40-39-38-37
and 48 to the line between Blocks Nos. 36
and 35, Tsp. 4 north, T. thence north
with the block line of 36, six miles to the N. E. corner of Section
No. 12 same block; thence west with section lines, six miles
to the place of beginning.
Sections Nos. 7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16-17-18-19-20-21-22-2324-25-26-27-28-29-30-33-34-35
and 36 each contain 640 acres of
land.
Sections Nos. 31-32-39-40-38-37 and 48 contain 391-563-26486-435-578
and 7 acres respectively.
SEC. 3. The management and control of the public free
schools in said Klondike Independent School District is hereby
vested in a board of trustees, which board shall be composed
of five persons resident citizens, and qualified voters within
said district who shall be elected and qualify as hereinafter
set forth.
