Gov. Johnson of Minnesota has
announced his candidacy for the
presidential nomination. John-
son is a fine man and a sound
Democrat, but we don't believe
there is any show for him to win
over William Jennings Bryan.
If the Fort Worth Record is
owned by Senator Bailey, as is
claimed by some, why is it that"
the Record was for C. K. Bell for
Governor while Senator Bailey
was a strong supporter of Judge
Brooks; also why is it that the
Record is a strong anti-prohibi-
tion paper while Senator Bailey
is a prohibitionist? Please show
us the consistency!

We are in receipt of Vol. 1,
No. 2 of the Sagerton Sun pub-
lished by Noble & Dennington.
They start off with a nice line of
patronage and a boost for Sager-
ton. These are both young men
and have the get-up-and-get to
make the Sun a success if the
people will stand by them. But
it takes concerted action on the
part of all the people to make a
newspaper a go in a small town.

With reference to that "black-
hand" letter, of which the Dallas
News reproduces a fac-simile
copy and comments so freely, is
it not a fact that said letter could
have been, and doubtless was,
written by some enemy of Sena-
tor Bailey for political effect?
There are politicians in Dallas
who are so dirty that a trick of
this kind would seem honorable
to them.
There are some few Republi-
cans who are so bent on defeating
Senator Bailey that they are
going to take the pledge. to sup-
port the Democratic nominees
and go into the primaries on
May 2nd in order to get to vote
against him. Now, the question
is, will they stick to the pledge?
We seriously doubt it for the sim-
ple reason that there is no law to
compki. them to do so. On the
other hand we know some few
good, conscientious and unbiased
Republicans who favor Senator
Bailey, but who will not go into
the primary for the reason that
they hold their pledge as sacred
as their oath, and this is what
every self-respecting man should
do.

At Brown wood during Senator
Bailey's speech a band of ru ffians
who were opposed to the Senator
hooted and kept up such a dis-
turbance that the sherift had to
interfere and command order.
My God, is this the class of peo-
ple who are opposing Bailey in
Brown county? Wouldn't you
be ashamed to be caught in a
bunch like this? We are glad to
know that the opposition to Sena-
tor Bailey in Stonewall county is
composed of a better class of peo-
ple than this, not one of whom
but would denounce such dem-
onstrations as this. The opposi-
tion in this county is composed of
gentlemen.

THEY are strong, sure-killing loads—yet do not "kick"'
excessively. They give a splendid shot pattern, and no
bird can ever get through it.
They are quick as lightning, leave the gun barrel clean, and
best of all—every shell of a given load is exactjy like every
other—no disconcerting "punk" or heavy charges. You can
depend upon them absolutely.
