Ai'lj. o'clock, Friday morning-,
Tom-Barnett, theman who faced
trial by law" for "the murder of
Alex Sears, was convicted of
murfter in the first degree and
sentenced to life imprisonment,
wass-hot to death in Taylor coun-
ty iail by a mob of armed men.
These men^ heavily masked,
entered Jailer Peevey's room, o-
ing its interest in this school mat-
ter. We do not err when we say
tnat there is no more important
matter confronting the people
today than this matter of effi-
cient school facilities and main-

struck Barnett and, with a deep

After the killing the mob filed

There were, perhaps, fifty men
in the mob.
Judge Blanton has called a spe-
cial term of court to investigate
the matter. We hope the per-
petrators will have meted out to
them due punishment by the
laws of the State. It matters
not bow grave the crime may be,
after !£ has been acted on by the
court there is but one safe course
and tfeai. is to abide by the court's
decision.
