Alto FFA sweeps Houston Livestock Show
A gfoup of Alto FFA students figuratively "brought the bacon
home" with award winning, shop project entries at the Houston
Livestock Show and Exposition March 3-4.
Instructor Harry Sump is justifiably proud after six of the 16
contestants earned places ranging from First to Third.
Marcus Helm took a First with his hay spear. Another First was
Aaron Lankford and Jayson England, who co-created a lift pole
(boom).
Betsy Glaze also earned a First with her strawbox.
Daniel Selman was awarded a Second place for his livestock
mineral feeder.
Four students pooled their talents to build a bog trap which
earned a Third place. They were Aaron Low, Josh Moore, Cole
Johnson and Charley Reid.
Another Third place was awarded Alicia Johnson and Jessica
Pierce for their saddle rack.
A group of the students tackled the ambitious project of a tilt-bed
trailer. They are Becca Jones, Katie Sturrock, Jesse Rivas, Craig
Skinner, Charley Reid, Josh Moore, Aaron Low, Betsy Glaze,
Aaron Lankford, Jayson England and David Selman.
The ambitious contestants expect to do well when they enter
their projects at the Cherokee County Junior Livestock Show
March 16-18 at the Show Barn on Loop 456 in Jacksonville.
