in need. Today is the time and this is the

Yeftmen Did
Their Work.
Some time Friday night yegg-
men blew open the safe in the
store of Fritz Mi mann at Deanville
and took $50.00 i n cash and
about $400.00 worth of checks
and other valuable papers. They
made good their escape and
fcher was no trace left for the
officers to ^rork on.
They first went into a black-
smith shop and gota brace and
drill, then went into the store
and drilled a hole into the safe
and put black powder into the
hole. They got the powder from
ten shot gun cartridges in the
store.
Each shell or cartridge contained
4 drams of powder and there
were,therefore,40 drams of pow-
der put into the safe which was
completely wrecked. After the
explosion, the buglars had noth-
ing to do except pick up their
booty and hike.
Sefcik-Sefcik.
Justice J. N. Vavra left
at noon Saturday for Milano
where that afternoon he unit
ed in marriage Frank Sefcik
and Miss Fannie Sefcik at the
home of the bride's parents be-
tween Milano and Rockdale. It
was a splendid home wedding
attended by many invited guests
from this county. That evening
a sumptuous wedding supper
was served by the parents of tne
bride at their hospitable home.
It was one of old time hospitali-
ties that you read about.
Mr. and Mrs. Sefcik will make
their home at New Tabor, where
their many friends extend them
a most cordial welcome.

NY LADY'S LOOKS
The residence of A. G. Gray
in south Caldwell was destroyed |
by tire Monday morning between :
1 and 2 o'clock together with all1
his household goods, the inmates I
o f the house barely escaping
with what they had on. The loss
is between #2000 and $2500, with
insurance. Mr. Gray is
the loser by about $1200 at least.
How the tire originated is un-
known, but rats and matches are
supposed to have started it.
An example Of Co-Operation
The gradual stamping out of
the hoof and mouth disease is
another striking example of the
benefits that come from co-
operation. In dealing with this
national peril, the officials of the
Department of Agriculture have
worked i n co-operation with
owners and shippers of cattle
and with officials of state depart
ment and the results is toat the

bright light that shine# out from
this great disaster is the spirit
of co—operation that prevailed
among the w^kers who were

the forgetfulness of selfish in-

Holding Plan Perfected.
The cotton holding plan of the
Texas Bankers Association was
placed on a permanent baises at
a meeting at Dallas last week
when the movement was offici-
ally endorsed by officials of the
Texas Farmers Union. This Un-
ion on the part of the growers
of cotton and the men who ti-
nance the crop, is considered by
conservative business men as
the most encouraging step in
the cotton holding movement
and it is believed that the cul-
mination of the plan in bringing
these two forces will have an im
mediate effect of restoring the
cotton situation to a normal
basis.
