Entertains J. U. G. Club.
Miss Brunette Wood, assisted
by Miss Spangler entertained
the J. U. G. Club last evening.
Several games of "42" were
played, the score cards used rep-
resenting a wheel of life, and
the result of the game was very
promising for Dr. Edwards who
is one of the new members.
A nice course of chocolate and
cake was served. Miss Lois
Wood will entertain next Thurs-
day night with a Tacky Masquer-
ade party.
Services Next Sunday
At the Christian Church, sub-
ject for morning services, "Her-
meneutics, or Rules of Inter-
pretation."
Evening subiect, "Scriptural
Election and Predestination."
Everybody invited to come to
these services. Come and bring
a friend. W. C. Wright, Minis-
ter.
Uncle Ben Scott, of Seymour
was in the city this week.
Miss Vaughan Clarke, our
popular Postmistress, left Wed-
nesday for Fort Worth and Hub-
bard City where she will visit
for a time. Miss Brunette Wood
accompanied her as far as Mun-
day.
W. ft. Moore, of -benjamin
passed thru the city Wednesday
en route to Ft. Worth.
Remember I receive every
Thursday a nice supply of fresh
fish and oysters. Also anything
to be found in a first class res-
taurant. G. A. "Longley
Mrs. T. A. Park, of Cliff spent
several days this week with her
daughter Mrs. W. M. Teague.
Elder R. H. Weaver, of Cliff
was in town Wednesday.
Mrs. Z. A. Hammick, of route
one wjio has been visiting in
Abilene returned Jhomc Tues-
day. i
Rev. M. S. Leveridge spent
the first of the week in Stamford.
He was on the examining com-
mittee to license preachers and
recommend them to the annual
conference for admission. There
were four admitted who will be
recommended to the annual con-
ference.
W. H. Thompson left yester-
day for De Leon, to attend the
bedside of his mother who is
very sick.
Mrs. Deese who has been vis-
iting out of town for several
weeks returned home Saturday
and was a pleasant caller at our
office.
Bill Reeder left Sunday for
Seymour and will go from there
to California. He expects to re-
turn in the near future with un-
told fortunes.

in the city yesterday and today.
Madams W. B. Williams and
Guy Farmer visited Haskell to-
day.
Rufus McLain made a business
trip to Benjamin Thursday re-
turning Sunday morning.
Mrs. Tat Teague, of Rule vis-
ited relatives in the city several
days this week.
R. W. Warrén was home the
first of the week after an ex-
tended trip to Truscott.
Mr. Oliver, of west of town
was buying mules in the city
Monday.
A. N. Deering. returned the
first of the week, from Terrell
and is greatly improved.
Dr. J. H. Adams, of Crowell
was in the city this [week visit-
ing his son who is in the employ-
ment of the Mahan Music Co.
The Home Mission Society of
the Methodist Church will serve
at the home of Mrs. Jno. Smith
next Monday. Mrs. Smith will
be assisted by Mrs. Lee Mc-
Lain. Everybody invited to at-
tend.
O'Brien News.
The rain Sunday evening was
very refreshing.
Mrs. Thompson and children
left last week for Mol ton Ala-
bama. Mr. Thompson will re-
main here until his crop is gath-
ered.
Mrs. Gooch returned Monday
from a weeks visit to friends in
Knox City.
Messrs Philip West and Dave
Venor left Tuesday for Child-
ress.
The safe and other fixtures for
the new Bank have arrived and
they are now doing business.
The young people here have
been attending the Chriátian
meeting at Michel].
Misses Delia and Ollie Duprel
were in Knox City Saturday.

Rochester attended church here

has ginned about 425 bales of
cotton up-to-date.

day returning Thursday.
Miss Mackley was a pleasant

J. M. Brock, of west of town
made a business trip to Benja-
min Monday.
Judge J. H. Milam and wife,
of Benjamin were in the city
Tuesday.
Messrs Boyle and Adams made
s business trip to O'Brien Mon-
day.
Mrs. E. 0. Jameson left yes-
terday for Seymour where she
will visit relatives for awhile.
Mr. J. R. Wood who has been
on his farm near Rule for some
time, returned home Friday.
Mrs. Pinson who has been vis-
iting her sister Mrs. R. W. War-
ren left the first of the week for
Oklahoma.
The Home Mission Society of
the Methodist Church, w.'ll ob-
serve the week of prayer, begin-
ning Thursday, Oct. 15th, and
continuing until Sunday. There
being a special program for
Sunday night.

Rev. Shaw preached at the
school auditorium Sundmy. Ow-
ing to the fact that he will at-
tend the Senate at Sherman, he
will not preach here on the third
Sunday as heretofore announced,
but will preach on the fifth Sun-
day instead.

tle and hog man, of east of town
was a pleasant caller at our of-
fice Monday.
T. C. Parks was a pleasant
caller at our office Monday. Tom
is one ol those follows who be-
leives in "laugh and grow fat"
and is succeeding very well.
Mr. H. B. Jackson and daugh-
ter, Miss Jennie, of Columbus,
Kansas are in the city the guest
of their daughter and sister Mrs.
G. T. Petty, Miss Jackson will
enter school at this place.
Messrs E. B. Warren, Tom
Reeder, J. L. Pearce. G. T. Tomp-
kins, and J. H. Atterbury made
a business trio to Benjamin Mon-
day.
