Bolivar, March 1st 1856

My dear Child,
Notwithstanding my two last
letters to you in such quick succession, I
am so pleased with the result of the Jones
suit that I must write you again a
few lines. Your Uncle John effected a
compromise requiring me to pay only
25$ and charged me no fee at all
for his services, which was exceedingly
clever in him, he is very kind indeed
to me. He was here yesterday. I showed
him your letter relative to your stay in
Louisville, he says you are doing exactly
right, that, that course will give you
confidence in yourself & the people confidence
in you, & that you will succeed here
then without much trouble. I regret having
urged you so much to return, but
thought I was advising for your own
interest. Your Uncle John said he intended
writing to you in a few days, & you
must be sure to answer his letter, it
is much to our interest to keep friendly with
them. I am much better of my cold this
morning, & hope soon to be well.
Do write whenever you can. Doctor Neeley
bought a girl 15 years old at the Roper sale
for 1100$ My love to all.
