Flu epidemic takes toll of tumblers
The current influenza epi-
demic took its toll of tumblers
from Canadian. Shamrock and
Pampa, and only 34 youngsters
were present for the Tumbling
Tournament held Saturday at
the Canadian High School Gym-
nasium. This is about a third of
those expected.
Judges were Fred and Lola
Hughes of Gymnastics of Pam-
pa.
First place winners in the
Ability I. age 3-4 tumblers were
Kristi Campbell and Tammy
Chester, tied. Tied for second
place were Melissa Chapman
and Liz Kessie; Jay Hunter was
third, and Adam Conner was
fourth.
In the Ability I, age 5-6
category, Shawn Hunter and
Joani Morgan tied for first
place, Cole Patton, Christi Rose
and Dave Davis were in a
three-way tie for second and
Kendra McPherson, Tony Con-
ner and Misty Fiel were in a
three-way tie for third.
Tiffany Laughlin took first
place in the Ability I, 7-8 age
group.
In the Ability II, 7-8 age group
Teresa Fick was first, Trella Sue
Haines second and Melissa
Lyons third.
In the Ability II 9-11 age
group Sonya West and Dee Anna
Haines tied for first, Christina
Kessie was second and Jill Fitch
was third.
Laura Gilbert took first place
in the Ability III 7-8 age group.
Sharla Vaughn took first place
and Tonya Barton second in the
Ability III 9-11 age group.
In the Ability IV 9-11 age
group Tammy Hinkle was in
first place and Michelle Haws
second.
Christa West took first place
in the Ability V age 7-8 group.
Kristal Mills took first in the
Ability V 9-11 group.
Tied for first place in the
Ability V 12-14 age group were
Joana Barbaree, Senna Clink-
ingbeard and Tim Haddatz.
