H illel explores
psychology of
love, relationships
Texas A&M Hillel hosted a
discussion exploring love and
relationships for its students and
others on campus featuring Molly
Gasbarrini of the Psychology
Department of Texas A&M
University. Gasbarrini, a Ph.D.
student in clinical psychology at
TexasA&M, specializes in couples'
processes, marital satisfaction
and couples' therapy. Gasbarrini
spent two years managing a lab
investigating the role of couples in
treatingmaj or depressive disorders
at Northwestern University in
Chicago. There, she co-authored
a chapter on couples' therapy for
the textbook Psychotherapeutic
Treatments in Psych iatry, published
by the American Psychiatric
Association. Hillel students sent
questions of interest to help focus
the discussion. The program was
designed to help students be more
successful in dating and in their
relationships with the opposite
sex, significant others, etc.
Ashley Pudnos, a member of
the Aggie class of 2008, spear-
headed the program. A psychol-
ogy major, Ashley is currently
the prime minister of the Hillel
Student board. She worked on
the program with Nick Kohn, a
doctoral candidate in psychology.
The idea for the program came
about when several Hillel stu-
dents sat down during an oneg,
and discussed their relationship
problems, specifically seeking
relationship advice. Ashley con-
tacted Molly Gasbarrini and the
program was underway.
