Shiner Gazette:
Mr. Max Wolters left yesterday
for ElPaso and New Mexico. Max
did not state his business, but we
believe he is in search of a gold mine.
Frank Johnson is back again af-
ter attending a state meeting of the
Odd Fellows at Austin.
Mr. and Mrs. M E. Wolters and
Mr. and Mrs Aug. Karasek took an
automobile trip to Schulenburg to
attend the birthday celebration of
Mr. Emil Baumgarten.
Fayette County Record. •
Fritz Presutn made a business
trip over the territory adjacent to
LaGrange last week, returninghome
on Wednesday night. The gentle-
man reports prosperous conditions
in the section he visited.
Sheriff Loessin went over to Col-
umbus last Wednesday for the pur-
pose of attending to matters of im-
portance connected with his office.
Henry Oltmann together with his
family spent Saturday and Sunday
in Schulenburg visiting with rela^
tives and mingling with friends.
Mrs.R. H. Ivnolle spent a few plea-
sant days last week visiting with re-
latives and friends in Schulenburg.
Geo. Krengel was in Schulenburg
Saturday attending to business mat-
ters and mingling with his many
friends in that thriving little city.
LaGrange Journal:
H on. C. J. von Rosenberg was at
Taylor Sunday, where he installed
a new auxiliary lodge to the Sons
of Hermann lodge of that city.
Julius Schwartz, H. P. Schaefer
E. B. Kessler and Charles Sen-
glemann, four of the leading capital-
ists of our sister republic, Schulen-
burg, came from the latter city Mon-
day night, remained with us a few
hours and then boarded the midnight
Katy for the Panhandle section of
the State, where land values had at-
tracted them.
Weimar Mercury:
H. Hurr and wife and A. Her-
zik and wife came down from En-
gle in Mr. A. Herzik's automobile
Sunday, returning the same day.
Tom C. Cohen and wife came
down from San Antonio Sunday
afternoon and the former has re-
sumed his poisition as picket agent
at the depot.
Mr. and Mrs. John H. Brooks
who have been on a visit to friends
in Waco, Austin and other points
returned home Friday morning
Mr. Brooks who has been ailing for

quite a while is looking and feeling
much better from his outing.
A PRETTY WEDDING
Yesterday morning, at the Travis
Street Presbyterian church, the sol-
emn words were spoken by Rev.
Green of Kerrville which united in
the holy bonds of matrimony, Miss
Dora von Rosenberg, daughter of our
fellow-townsman and wife, Hon. and
Mrs. C. J. von Rosenberg, and Mau-
rice Frederrick Granville of Kerr-
ville Long before the appointed
hour the place of worship, hand-
somely decorated by the friends of
the bride, was filled to its capacity
by invited friends and relatives.

PLETNY OF WORK AHEARD
An editor away fbr a while left his
paper in charge of a preacher.
During the minister's stay in the
sanctum the following letter came
from a subscriber; l,I know very
well I paid you my subscription
to your paper the last time I was
in town. If I get any more such
letters from; you as I received
last week I will come in and* 'maul
h—1 out of you." The minister
answered: ''I have been trying to
get that out of the editor for ten
years, and if you will come down
and maul it out of him, then, my
dear sir, I have twenty members
of my church I will get you to
operate on "—Ex.
Agent Holland, Pumper Pen-
nington and Section Foreman
Stephens have been made happy
by receiving letters from Super-
intendent H. F. Andersan in-
forming them that their depart-
ments they preside over passed a
perfect inspection at the last an-
nual inspection. The Sticker
congratulates them.
