MEMORIAL
RESOLUTION ADOPTED
The following Memorial Resolution
was adopted unanimously by a rising
vote:
S. C. R. No. 3, In memory of Wil-
liam Lockhart Clayton.
CONGRATULATORY
RESOLUTION ADOPTED
The following Congratulatory Re-
solution was adopted unanimously:
H. C. R. No. 12, By Semos: Extend-
ing greetings to Her Royal Highness,
Princess Irene of Greece.
On motion of Mr. Semos, the names
of all the Members were added to
H. C. R. No. 12 as signers thereof.
(Mr. Clayton in the Chair)
CONGRATULATING THE HONOR-
ABLE TRAVIS A. PEELER ON
HIS BIRTHDAY
Mr. Bridges offered the following
resolution:H. S. R. No. 29
Whereas, The Honorable Travis A.
Peeler merits every distinction and
honor which this House affords, but
due to lack of consideration on some-
body's part-his parents', members of
the Constitutional Convention of 1875,
or Pope Gregory XIII in providing
the calendar now in use-there was a
conflict between the date of his birth
and the inaugural ceremonies of Jan-
uary 17, 1967; and
Whereas, It was with great regret
that his fellow Members of this House
postponed the birthday celebration he
so justly deserved in deference to
those other auspicious activities, and
his natal day passed without being
marked by his colleagues; and
Whereas, This brilliant young at-
torney, member of the law firm of
Pritchard, Peeler and Smith, has been
a staunch Democrat almost from the
date of his birth (January 17, 1925),
which is placed in parentheses because
in this House we have learned not to
have any undue preoccupation with
age-and with friend Peeler, this is
particularly wise in view of his well-
known feelings on the subject; and
Whereas, Now serving his fourth
term, Travis is an outstanding Mem-
ber of the House, and has a per-
sonality which makes him well-liked
by his associates; and
Whereas, It is the wish of the House
of Representatives of the 60th Legisla-
ture that restitution be made, that
the attention and consideration which
were denied yesterday be restored, and
that we join his wife, Jane, and chil-
dren, Sally and Paul Wylie, in cele-
brating with him a belated birthday;
now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Texas, That
we wish our colleague, Travis A. Peel-
er, a "Happy Birthday" yesterday;
and, be it further
Resolved, That a copy of this Re-
solution be prepared for him as a
memento of the happy occasion.
Signed: Bridges, Hale, Scoggins of
Nueces, McLaughlin and Quilliam.
The resolution was read and was
adopted unanimously.1.30
