will be closed Friday,
Nov. 10, 1978, in ob-
servance of Veteran's
Day, announced Kodolfo
"Hoy" Cantu.
The First National
Bank will be closed also

which is Thanksgiving

another term to the U.S.
Senate. Tower, a 17-year

morning cut into his margin.

won all races for governor
since 1873. With the ex-
ception of Davis and Sam
Houston, all Governors have

Party, defeated Hardin
Runnels, the Demo* ratic
nominee.

Republicans have seriously
threatened the Domocrats

"Bob" Krueger soundly
defeated incumbent John
Tower countywide.
Out of a total 4,080 votes
<ast in that race (unofficial
counti, Krueger received
3,192 and Tower 856. giving
Krueger a 2,336 vote lead in
the county.
In the state governor's
rate, the Democrats
nominee, John Hill, carried
the county with a majority of
3,120 votes over the
Republican candidate, Bill
Clements.
Hill received 3,591 votes
compared to 471 for
dements 'unofficial count).
Bill Hobby carried the
county with a 3.316 lead over
Republican candidate
Gaylord Marshall in the
Lieutenant Governor's race.
Hobby received 3,588 votes
compared to 272 for Mar-
shall (unofficial count).
Mark White defeated
Republican Jim Baker in
Starr County. White
received a majority of 3,124
votes. The Democrat
received 3,523 and the
Republican 399 in the race
for the Attorney General's
seat of Texas.
