Tower Calls Meeting On Alien Schooling
U.S. Senator John Tower
has announced he has called
for a meeting of U.S.
Senators from five border
states to discuss the impact
of last week's Supreme
Court ruling that alien
children illegally in the
States are entitled to free
public education.
Body Found
In River
The body of an uniden-
tified Mexican national was
found floating in the Rio
Grande River in the La
Casita area June 22, by
Border Patrol agents.
Justice of the Peace Ar-
noldo Gonzalez and Sheriff's
deputies investigated, piling
that no foul play was in-
volved.
According to Chief Deputy
J.C. Gomez, the badly
decomposed body was
buried the same say in a
pauper's grave.
EDITOR'S NOTE '--

storm. The Rio Grande
Herald is publishing articles

"This decision by the
Court will have a tremedous
impact in your state and
mine. Under the ruling in
the case...school districts in
our states must provide
schooling for all children
situated withiA school
district boundaries,
regardless of their status ir
the United States.
This...will place a
financial burden on school
districts...which may have
the detrimental effect of
limiting the educational
opportunities the district can
provide to its student," said
the senior senator from
Texas.
In a letter sent today to
senators from Arizona,
California, Florida t New
Mexico, and Texas , Tower
said, "Rather than dilute our
efforts to find a legislative
solution to the dilemma
facing our school districts
following this decision, I
alternatives available to
us.
