Surgeon in chief at the American
Hospital of Chicago.
Thorek is the author of several
books, most of them relating lo
surgical techniques. He has served
as the essayist in 30 films dealing
with surgical techniques. He has

serves as Professor Emeritus of
Medicine and remains active in
leaching at the Medical School of

retired as Professor Medicine and as
Acting Dean in 1986.
He is a graduate of the College ol
Medicine at Ohio Slate University
He had completed tnree years of
general practice when, at the
beginning of the Korean War, he
joined ihe Medical Corps of the
U S. Air Force and served for 20
years. During this period, he
completed a residency in internal
medicine at Brooke Army Medical
Center. Fort Sam Houston Texas
Three yeais later, he relumed and
completed a residency in cardiology
During his last 10 years in the
Air Force, he lunctioned as a senior
consultant in medicine and
cardiology His last Air Force

and Urban Development Flood
