Cooking Corner
(NAPS)—Careful!} choosing
your ingredient? can help make
baking easier.
For instance, have you ever run
into a problem blending or cream-
ing butter or margarine straight
from the refrigerator because it's
too cold and too hard? Well, here's
a solution. Use Shedd's Spread
Country Crock® Spreadable Sticks
in your recipe. Spreadable Sticks
are made from a softer blend of
vegetable oil so they mix easily
straight from the refrigerator.
Here are some scrumptious
easy-to-make frosted sugar cookies
made with Spreadable Sticks and
Domino* Flavored Confectioners
Sugar.
SUGAR COOKIES
1 cup Domino® Granulated
Sugar
% cup Shedd's Spread
Country Crock® Spreadable
Sticks (1V4 sticks)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
2y« cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
V4 tsp salt
In large mixing bowl, at low
speed, cream Domino Sugar
and Country Crock 1-2 min-
utes. Add egg and vanilla; mix
well. Add flour, baking pow-
der and salt, beating at low
speed until well mixed.
Heat oven to 350"F. On floured
board, using floured rolling pin,
roll dough until '/s-inch thick.
Cut into shapes. Place on un-
greased baking sheets. Bake 9-
12 minutes or until lightly
browned around edges. Cool.
Decorate with frosting. Makes
about 4 dozen cookies.
FROSTING
1. Combine one box Domino
Flavored Confectioners Sugar in
large bowl with Vi cup Shedd's
Spread Country Crock Spread-
able Sticks (1 atick). Gradually
add 3-5 tablespoons milk to
reach desired consistency.
2. Beat at medium speed 1-2
minutes until creamy.
3. Spread mouth-watering
frosting on your favorite cook-
ies and cakes.
Spreadable Sticks are also easy
to spread on breads and other
baked goods. Easy spreading
means you don't tear toast or
crumble muffins. The spread is
available in two varieties, Regular
Country Crock, which has a coun-
try fresh taste, and Churn Style,
which has a sweet buttery taste
from the farm.
He who is love with himself
has at least this advantage—
he won't encounter many
rivals.
—Georg Christoph
Lichtenberg

able Sticks for butter or margarine
In your recipes as they mix In eas-
lly straight from the refrigerator.
