son today exparlenced the excitement
of country baseball games and thor-
oughly enjoyed It. He happened along

about thirty-five miles south of Wash-
ington when hs heard a series of wild
shouts from a frantlo crowd of enthus-
iasts "rooting" with all the Intensity
of a major league struggle for the
rival teams.
The president wore a large pair of
goggles and thought he could watch
the game without being recognised. He
stepped out of the automobile st the
crossroads general store a short dis-
tance from the diamond. As he cau-
tiously approached the grounds how-
ever a thousand curious ayes were
turned upon him. The feminine en-
thusiasts of ta Plata almoat immedi-
ately discovered his Identity.
"It's the president." they chorused as
they swooped down on him and greeted
him.
The playera paused and the crowd
gave three hearty cheers for their dis-
tinguished visitor. The president In-
quired about the progress of the gams
and found that the La Plata team was
in bitter combat with the Indian Head
Md.. team at a tie score. The presi-
dent watched the contest for half an
hour enjoyed the antics of the player

ments as they came from the bleachers
