On Monday last as the northbound Pock Island tram was
leaving El Reno a team near a < rossiog became unmanageable,
running in front of the engine. here were two occupants, a
voung man named Johnson and his mother the latter aged
about 7 s years- t he engineer reversed the engine but too
late., and the wagon was caught, killing tin- cid lady instantly,
gathering the voting man on the cow-cajtcher where he was car-

H. M.Be<kley PredK. Ball superintendent, and James P.
Anderson of the Pennsylvania Casting and Machine company,
were a"rested last w 'ek charged with conspiracy in perpetrating
frauds upon the United States in furnishing steel guy castings.
The affidavit upon which the arrests were nude says that about
May t8, 1894 the defendants conspired to defraud the United
States bv duplicating the official stamp of the inspector of ord-
nance and in subjecting specimens already stamped and sepa-
rated fcrcisting for test treatment of different handling from
that received by the casting, which would resu't in delivering to
he United States castings of a qualitvi ferior to the specimens
cf that <]ualitv required by the contract of the said company.
