Enough variety for all tastes
From country to cumbias, the airwaves have it
by Sharon Salmon
A&E EDITOR
Scouting out the semi-decent tunes on the
Dallas radio is an annoying and frustrating
process for all of us, but especially for those
students who are new in town. Though we
can't promise their beats will always be
bumping, we can offer a few suggestions.
If classic rock rocks your world, try the
Eagle at 97.1 FM or the Bone at 93.3 FM. For
those of you who like it nostalgic, jazz jams
are featured on the Oasis 107.5 FM while old
school R&B rides the waves of 105.7 FM. Kick
up your cowboy boots to the classical country
of 95.3 FM or, for more modern melodies,
tune into 96.3 FM.
When Understanding the Bible doesn't
satisfy your craving for Christian harmony,
check out 89.7 Power FM or 94.9 FM.
Need to study Spanish? KESS 1270 AM
can be your personal tutor. 104.5 FM breaks
it down with the latest in hip-hop and R&B,
and KISS 106.1 FM can provide your guilty
pleasure of the day with its Top 40 playlist.
100.3 JACK FM may not take any of your
requests, but with the wide variety of tunes
and lack of an annoyingly animated disc
jockey, your only request will be that they
never change their unique and lively format.
For those of you more interested in current
events, flip your dial to 660 AM talk radio or
90.1 FM public radio. Sports fans can soak up
the latest on the Ticket, which broadcasts on
1310 AM and 1 700 AM, as well as 104.1 FM.
