THE CASINO
One of the leading attractions-in
fact, the principal one-at Lake Cliff
is the Casino. This is the largest and
most completely equipped theater in
the South, summer or winter. It has
a seating capacity of over two thousand.
The architectural symphony of
the building is particularly striking,
and the visitor is at once impressed
with the novel idea of raising the
lower floor of the theater to a height
of 20 feet from the ground. The space
under the building is thoroughly
equipped with a modern soft drink emporium,
tables and chairs, and every
other equipment necessary to the comfort
and convenience of the Casino
patrons.
At night, hundreds of electric lights
make the place a veritable fairyland.
The main floor, with a seating capao
ity of 1,400, is fitted throughout with
modern opera chairs, each row being
elevated above the one in front. Here
again the electrical display is novel
and beautiful.
The Palm Garden, or Balcony, with
a seating capacity of 600, is fully
equipped with modern opera chairs,
while in the rear are tables and chairs
where the Casino patrons can not only
witness the show, but enjoy a collation
or a lunch, as the case may be.
The front of the building is of Moorish
design and is finished in stucco and
marble relief. Over a thousand incandescent
lamps make the electrical display
something long to be remembered.
The stage equipment is perfect. The
stage itself is the largest in the South
and is equipped with the most modern
and most complete electrical appliances
as well as the most modern
and elaborate scenic and stage settings
to be had anywhere.
The management of the Casino has
had in mind in the operation of this
theater the pleasing of its patrons,
regardless of expense.
While the price of admission is
brought down to the minimum, the
attractions are kept fully up to the
standard. During the past season
light operas and musical comedies
have been featured. Attractions have
been given there at 10, 20 and 30
cents which rival, and in many instances,
excel the average winter attraction
charging from $1.50 to $2.00
admission.
A first-class Orchestra is maintaiued
and a complete corps of attendants
are in charge.
