Nacogdoches, March 20/08
Judge Jas. I. Perkiiir:,. Rusk, Tex.:
Dear Sir:—The tmdersigned
citizens of Nacogdoches some
weews ago joined with others
in a written request to Judge
C. D. Minis of this city to be-
eoine a candidate for District
Judge. The request was sign-
ed by us under the belief and
after having been assured that
you had declared your inten-
tion not to jjtaud to re-election
to that office, but that you.
would become a candidate fci
Congress. VVe have since
been advised that you were
then a candidate for reelection
to the. office o£ district Judge.
VVe recognize that our action
in signing such request when
you were occupying the posi-
tion and intending to stand for
re-election would indicate upon
our part a disapproval, by us
o? your administration .of the
office of District J udRej having
no such intention, but upon
the contrary heartily approv-
ing your administration, we
take pleasure in making this
public voluntary statement
concerning the matter. Had
we known that you were a can-
didate for re-election we would,
not have requested anyone to
oppose you as a candidate for
the office.
