Bob and Bettye Ward
Scholarship increases
The Bob and Bettye Ward Scholarship, established in Janu-
ary 1999, with a principal sum of $100,000 has been increased by
$50,000. This amount will extend the life of the scholarship to
more than thirty years. The scholarship is presently set up to pay
selected students $750 per semester for a total eight semesters
beginning with the fall semester following high school
graduation.
"In time we hope this fund will grow so that selected students
would receive $1,000 per semester/' said Bob Ward adding, "We
have been real happy with the picks so far."
The five member selection group is made up of principals,
teachers, and counselors. Selection is based on need, attitude
and potential. Grades, as long as passing, would have no bearing
on selection. College may include vocational, technical, or any
other type of post high school education. This is the most impor-
tant part of the scholarship for Bob Ward, a successful entrepre-
neur, who freely admits that he "barely got out of High School."
It 's down hill all the way to.
