HOME NEWS
BY SHIRLEY BAKER
Sunday morning Jeanie Pfannenstiel
played the piano for the residents in the Ac-
tivity Room. Doug Tennant presented the
communion emblems. Justin Coleman of the
Assembly of God Church brought the after-
noon sermon.
On Monday, Linda Folley, Vonda Robbins
and Shirley Baker were in the beauty shop giv-
ing manicures.
Eugenia Byard has had a busy summer. She
brought jars of homemade wild plum jelly and
made toast to be served at Monday Morning
Moments. She told us that she also had grapes
at home to be made into something. So guess
what to expeet next?
Fern Young gave a devotional and played
the piano while Marie Robinson and Jerry
DeSha lead the singing.
Gena Tubb called Bingo in the afternoon.
In honor of Lemon Meringue Pie Day, Jer-
ryDeSha, Gaydean Bucher, Shirley Flowers,
Mary Lynne Schafer, Lorie Merketand Euge-
nia Byard made pies- and served 29 residents.
There were a few who didn't get pie in the:
afternoon for various reasons; however, they
didn't miss out. Their slices of pie were saved
for them and served at the evening meal.
Gena Tubb Started off Tuesday with a
round of Sittercize. She also assisted Mary
Lynne with Rhythm Band and Kathryn Kent
danced for the residents as Mary Lynne
played. If you haven't seen Kathryn dance,
you have surely missed out. Ronnie Webb sang
and Jerry DeSha gave a devotional on "Fixing
Things from the Inside Out."
The ladies of the Higgins Church brought
many delicious pies for the pie social. What a
delightful treat!
Balloon Ball was the exercise of the day on
Wednesday.
David and Pat Young led the Bible Study
and Pat played the organ. It was a very in-
teresting lesson. Thank you, David and Pat.
Snacks were served after the Bible Study.
More Bingo in the afternoon. Eugenia
Byard called the games.
A busload of residents departed the Home
for a social time at the Methodist Church and
to attend a talent show. Those attending were
Jonah Laubhan, Phyllis Laramore, Liz Baxter,
LaJean Minnick, J. Bob Pickens, Cleo Isaacs,
Jerry DeSha, Teri McCormick and Lori Mer-
ket.
Thursday was hair fixings day with
Gaydean Bucher's ladies, Bobbie Jo Ramp and
Carol Brock, busy in the beauty shop. During
that time, donuts were being served in the
Activity Room, compliments of Ma Beasley's
Donut Shop. Later in the day, watermelon was
served to several people.
Gaydean Bucher and Nell Leonard were
busy in the beauty shop again on Friday.
Wayne Baker followed their aet with "Wayne's
World."
A Joy Ride to Lake Marvin was enjoyed by
Liz Baxter, Alice Garnas, Cleo Isaacs, Arleta
Jones, Phyllis Laramore, Jonah Laubhan, Em-
ily Meier, Grade Pearl Norris, J. Bob Pickens,
Clara Bell Wootton and Graee Wright. They
concluded their trip with a stop at the Dairy
Queen for ice cream. Honestly, it would seem
all these people do is eat, eat, eat. What a life!
On Friday, September 2, Phyllis Lara-
more's son from Ada, Oklahoma, is going to
be in the Activity Room at 2 p.m. to share his
experiences during his recent trip to the Holy
Lands.
If anyone is interested in hearing what he
has to present, you are welcome to attend at
that time. It will be a very interesting testi-
mony.
Saturday activities included games of Tur-
key Dominoes.
And on the seventh day, they all rested!
