The Southwest Region of the
Smaller War Plants Corporation
leads all othefs in the Nation 4n
loans made to small business wtih
bank participation, Mr. Warren
G. Brawn, District Smaller War
Plants Corporation Manager said
today.
Of the 234 loans made in Texas,
Oklahoma and Louisiana from the
time the program began through
February 28, 1945, 112 or 47.9 per
cent had local bank participa-
tion, Mr. Brown stated. The par-
ticipation figure of the entire Na-
tion is 2B.0 per cent.
Loans in this Region totaling
$28,074,348.33 have been made to
help small business speed the War
Effort, and of this total there has
been bank participation in $21,-
232,325.27 of the loans approved.
This represents a percentage of
75.6 as compared to the National
figure of 31.3, Mr. Brown related..
In the Region 131 leases have
been approved totaling $3,305,-
057.21. More leases have been
mode in Texas than in any other
State.
Mr. Brown pointed out that the
biggest group of loans made by
the Smaller War Plants Corpora-
tion were in the $10,00(1 to $25,000
class. Of the total made. 67.5 per
"cent have been for less than $25,-
000. These loans were approved
by the Regional Loan Agent in
Dallas without reference to Wash-
ington.
