With family memberspresent, Mr. Calvin Coolidge Ball entered
rest at 10:45, Tuesday, (DecemBer 7,1993, while his wife, Mrs.
%atie %. 'Ball was praying.
He was one of thirteen children 6orn to Mr. and Mrs. John 'Ball
on ^[pvemBer 17,1924 in Seguin, Texas. He spent his childhood
in the Zion Hill community attending what was known as the
conjunction schooC.
Being raised By Christian parents and trained in "Almighty
Qod's" ways, he joined Zion Hill Bap tist Church earCy and Coved
worthing there.
Sifter moving to San Antonio, he moved his memBership to
9\few Light Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas and joined the
Usher Board.
Mis civil service career 6egan at (Randolph Air force Base until
he entered the United States 9{avy, was assigned electrician
duties and dischargedin 1946.He studied at St. Philip's CoCCege,
received a degree in electronics and was employed BySAAMA
%tty Air force Base as radio repairman, from there he was
elevated to a special position in the (Directorate of Special
Weapons and received many commendations concerning projects
only known to a few working at %?tty Air force Base.
from failing health early retirement Began. Me spent the rest of
his life trying to recover his health. However, he always helped
others and patiently sought the throne ofgrace through prayer.
He knew that throne could Be found everyplace and especially
in hospitals.
His only son, Calvin Coolidge Ball, Jr. preceded him in death
along with one sister, Mrs. Christine Coleman Qooden and one
stepdaughter, Mrs. HQithie L. Williams.
He is survived By his granddaughter, Camila Ball; daughter-
in-law, Lela M. Ball;fivestepchildren, Mr. (Randalland(Ramon
McAfee, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Diana T Bennett, Seattle,
Washington, Meloda *1. Powell, Arlington, Texas; nine step-
grandchildren, a favorite niece, Leona 'Riley; five sisters, Mrs.
Cordelia Wilson and Mrs. LuellaShelBy ofSeguin, Texas, Mrs.
Alice Lee of San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. 1/erdia M. Dancy, Mrs.
Hattie L. Cunningham of Oakland, California; six Brothers,
Mr. John L. and Jessie Ball of San Antonio, Texas; (Rgv. A. J.
Ball of Cuero, Texas, (David % Ball of Oakland, California,
Herman and'Eugene Ball of Houston, Texas, and a host ofmany
other relatives and friends.
