OUR OliJECT.
The Homk Advocate Is chiefly in-
tended as a help to parent* and guar-
dians in .uainiug up siud Instructing
their chuflren in the way they should
K°'fbU was the only object that in-
duced us to commence its publica-
tion It could not have been to satis-
fy tiny bcl'ilah or covetous desire, as we
,io not expect ever to appropriate one
dollar of the proceeds to our own use.
We o'nlv desire to make it (if possible)
wlf-sustaining. This we think can be
done, even at a less price than is now
ilrronrmj " wlso i-1- au interest !u
the moral training of youth and chil-
dren will exert themselves to procure
uii additional number of paying subscri-
bers. , . _
No one need have any doubt as to its
being continued, as we intend, through
the blessings of a kind Providence, to
perpetuate its existence (as the liUle
Home Advocate) as long as we are per-
mitted to live in the world. In addltKfll
to the efforts that the Editor and others
haw and will continue to put forth to
make it truly au Advocate of the best
interest of society, we expect soon to
engage some of the best talent in the
Southern States, to.contribute weekly to
its columns. It must and (with the
Lord's help) will succeed.
PROPRIETOR.
TESTIMONIALS.
PermIt me to congratulate you In^the
chair editorial, The Home Advocat*
is a decided success—the very thing we
need in Texas to supply a place in pur
literature. The juvenile members of
my family are delighted with It. Indeed
1 am pretty fond of it myself.—-Rev. J.
W. FIELDS.
I am delighted with tt.~Captain W. J.
CLARK, of Dallas.
It Is just the tiling we need for the
times. It is neat, pluin, moral, and re-
ligions—just such as our young people
should have and read. And many of us
of larger growth can receive instruction
from it. Out Of some half dozen papers
I take, it is among the first! scan.—Ker.
J. M. B1NKLEY, Kentucky Town.
I like it afr.—Prof. G. A. M. STARRS,
Denton county.
Wc really need such a paper in every
family in the laud, to better the tone
modern society has assumed, and to
wake up parents to the consideration of
the future prospects of their children in
this world and in that which is to come.
—A. JOOST, Palestine.
Wife and all the children love the
Home Advocate—and so do I; could
not do without it.—liev. L. C. CHOUSE,
Shelby county.
I have pleasure In saying The Home
Advocate is more than it assumes to be.
Its circulation must be attended with
good results.—Judge C. A. FRAZER,
Marshall.
It. cost me no effort to fall In love with
the Home Advocate. It is the right
tiling in tho right place, and in the right
hands. Success to it.—Rev. J. II. Mc-
LBAN, Paris.
Yo« have our host wishes for ,its suc-
cess, believing it to be a useful paper,
and would be glad to hear of its becom-
ing an inmate of every household.—
Si NCLAlit STAl'P, lloncy Grove.
Your paper Is filling a vacuum which
110 other journal in this country has ever
done. Its character and eminent merits
have placed the signet of success upon
it.—Dl-, J. 11. JOHNSON, Marshall.
Being favorably impressed with the
moral worth of the IIomk ADVOCATE, 1
would bo glad to see it in every family.
—Rev. J. Wi JONES, DmiglassvtHe.
Mrs. Roget s and I are highly pleased
with it—would not be without it lor
twice the C0<t.—Rev. C. M. ROGERS,
Clinton.
Among a family of children. It is the
right thing in the right place; and I
think ail children, even Iroin the ago of
eighteen to seventy-five, might spend
two hours a week of their otherwise
wasted tims profitably in reading it.—
Rev. A. C. McDOUGAL, Red River co.
Send it on. It is a good paper, and
calculated to tlo good wherever It circu-
lates.—Rev. J. SHOOK. Rusk.
The Advocate is a great favorite in
the family circle. I only hope it may be
patronized as extensively as Its merits
deserve; then it will reach evtfry nook
and corner of the Sunny South.—N. S.
MOORE, Longstreet, La.
I like to place in the bauds of children
such papers as the Homk Advocate.—
Rev. J. M. 8EKTON, Tyler.
The paper is eminently worthy of sup-
port.—Rev. JOHN ADAMS, Anderson
county.
I ean cheerfully recommend it to my
friends as a first class newspaper for the
household.—Mrs. MATTES G. E. FOW-
LER, I>arlssa.
The Home Advocate is highly prized
